YHC’s VQ so after a short mosey, some shaky commands and awkward starting counts, we all warmed up to SSHs, Imperial Walkers, Mountain Climbers, Sun Gods, Michael Phelps.
The New Year usually comes with resolutions for a new body, so we worked out the whole body in three stations, set up 20 yards apart. Each station had four exercises designed to isolate and beatdown a different part of the body.
Station 1 – Lower: Squats, Copperhead Lunges, Sumo Squats, Monkey Humpers
Station 2 – Core: American Hammer, LBCs, J-Los, Flutter Kicks
Station 3 – Upper: Merkins, Carolina Dry Docks, Diamond Merkins, Shoulder Tap Planks
Each station is supposed to isolate a muscle group, but we’re not doing this alone! PAX were grouped into 4 squads, each PAX led their squad for an exercise, IC, at each station. After each exercise, the squads had to mosey 30-50 yards to the starting point and back — planking/mary on the 6. PAX started cursing YHC vigorously when told to Bear Crawl from Station 3 (the closest station) back to the starting point.
We made it 3/4ths of the way to our goal of 2 visits to each station.
Prayers for Jackalope’s son’s service project, Doughboy’s family, and Dunshire’s new house and potential move. Exile shared a few words about the importance of locking shields with one another — taking advantage of the community we share as men to “spur one another toward love and good deeds”, keeping each other accountable, and helping us reach our goals to be better men, fathers, and leaders.
I’m thankful to get over the self-doubt and fear of leading the men. Great experience to feel supported and encouraged!
