Mind over Matter; it only matters if you mind. It’s all about how to trick or beat your mind; one of the toughest enemies we face, ourselves. Some pax like Helen Keller make this look easy. I struggle with this and let my mind create excuses that then cause physical responses in my body. Things like constructing exercise routines that appear easy on the surface, and listening to Jackalope’s painful and surprising playlist help distract my mind; appreciate the beats my friend.

Warm-o-rama:

1/4 mile mosey

10 SSH IC, 10 merkins IC, 5 burpees oyo

10 SSH IC, 10 imperial walkers, 10 burpees on Jackalope (amrap until Lope hits 10)

10 SSH IC, 7 weed pickers, 15 burpees on Gryllis

10 SSH IC, MP’s and Sun gods, 20 burpees on Helen Keller

(similar to a deconstructed chumpaburpee but less SSH and more burpee)

The Thang:

Bottom of tennis court hill : 40 twisted mountain climbers, 20 pickle pounders, 10 leg raises, Bern sanders up the hill, 20 dips on benches up top. rinse and repeat for 4 sets. Amrap merkins on the 6.

Tennis courts:  walk, crawl, run, skip.

bear crawl to fence, crawl bear back. Lunge walk fence and back. run fence and back. Mario bro skip to fence and back (Narco really resembled Mario here). We already have his next Halloween costume picked out.

run up the dirty hole to the field. (yes I count this as an exercise)  that hole is tricky

on the Field: Derkin / plank partnership. one partner elbow planks while other does decline merkin with feet on partners shoulder blades. 20 reps each. rinse and repeat.

LT Dan’s on crack: 1:4 ratio. Jump squat and lunge walk starting at 1 jump squat to 4 lunges, up to 10 jump squats and 40 lunges or until you reach the length of the field.

turn back down the length of the field with plank train tracks with pax at the end leaping over everyone’s plank to the other side and falling back into the plank line. Took about three rounds maybe 4 to make it to other side of the field.

Indian run  the track one lapish.

Fast Mary: like Mary except she’s fast. First we sprint roughly 40 yards, then a pax calls Mary exercise. rinse and repeat 4 times I think until time ran out.

COT: strong 6 man story by Gryllis.

Coffeeteria: tasty with a kick. 2nf breakfast at J Christopher’s.

Naked man moleskin:

  • hard to hold a topic today, mostly general chatter and bickering
  • was it cold or hot? feels like 7 degrees, 15 MPH wind but we were suited up like Ralphie from Christmas story. I felt like I was working out in a sauna suit.
  • shout out to the pre-runners for well pre-running; Honeypot, Nesquik and Chubb. Ballsy, very ballsy.
  • Bagger showed his hurdling skills today leaping over the planks at the highest point.
  • Vanilli is becoming a beast or maybe he always was. Looked like a freight train on the Fast Mary sprints.
  • Pig Kunkle found his calling when “Anaconda want none hun” played during pickle pounders. Look for him on the next Magic Mike.
