YHC was excited to have the opportunity to Q at The Arena, one of our high-intensity beatdowns. LawDog and C4 were responsible for planting our region’s 1^st high-intensity beatdown, The Happy Jack, which guarantees a 5K every time. So YHC was happy to come share the love, or as C4 calls it, Powerful Joy!

We took a wandering mosey from the flag, up to the baseball fields, around the amphitheater and to the lower parking lot. Maaco made the comment that he could have showed me a much more direct route to the parking lot, but YHC had to honor the Happy Jack Guarantee (5K minimum) so wandering is our friend.

• Happy Jack (Had to introduce the Arena PAX to the namesake exercise of Cherokee’s 1^st high-intensity beatdown. 5 SSH followed by explosive Squat Jumps as you declare with powerful joy “Happy!” “Jack!”. That’s 1 round; 5 rounds is a good start and finish for a beatdown.

Stairway to Seven

• Start at the bottom of the parking lot by the amphitheater, run up the hill for 1 burpee, and return to the parking lot. Rinse and repeat while adding a burpee every time until you reach 7, then pick up the 6.

Slingshot

• This is a Happy Jack favorite as it is sure to get your lungs burning. Imagine a reverse Indian Run/Bataan Death March. We divided into 4 groups of 3. Upon the call of ‘GO!’ the group at the FRONT of the line takes off in a sprint. You can sprint as short or as far as you would like, but you have to have time to knock out 5 burpees before the line of PAX catches up to you. Failure to do so results in you getting to go again with the next group.

After a final round of 15 Monkey Humpers as a group, we ran back to the flag and finished just like we started with 5 rounds of Happy Jacks.
