THE THANG: Got a message that a kayaker was down on the other end of the trail across from the club house. The men of Kratos started whining about Kratos being a recovery BD. Well that’s what we did!!! At the beginning of our journey we found our first obstacle, a wooden bridge. As YHC was rerunning the treacherous jungle route clearing the Joro spider webs with C4 and dynamite I received fire from a raccoon slipping through the creek bottoms so we had to raccoon crawl across all the bridges that we encountered. On the very nice board walk and stairs we preformed lunges and walked the stairs to make up time as our kayaker was still not reached yet. Upon discovery of our kayaker PAX was disappointed Wheelin was not in kayak, but still found the remains of a 40lb sand bag, 20lb sand bag, a 30lb ruck sack, and a kayak. PAX decided it was best to split up the body parts as to not make it to heavy on others. Then headed back to flag. The resident neighborhood trail experts Tulip and Baby Ruth suggested we take the shorter way back. After a couple of failed attempts of wrong paths Bo Peep let out a war cry that was heard from miles away and lead us to the correct path. A new and undiscovered part of this trail system we found a bridge under construction and a route through chest high poison ivy and booby traps. When we were finally safe on Allied lines we ditched the kayak and the body parts in an attempt to make it back to the flag on time. Mission Success – didn’t recover kayaker to flag and went 3 min over time but this group of guys stepped up to the challenge in the darkness of the morning in some unfamiliar settings and let their training take over. Congrats fellas on a job well done!!
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Bethany house money giving back to them soon. Another date to help them later in Sept.
COT: Prayed for Tulip and co-worker, and Mater family friend still recovering after Side-by-side accident.
