YHC had the Q and was energized to find out there would be a Blood Moon eclipse during the middle of our workout. So I diligently got to work. Murph is a beautiful BD in that you are put in a box and work with the medium you are given — it’s a simple yet refined BD that is tough as hell and we like it that way. So I had to get a bit creative to work in the rare sight that would be bestowed upon us.

Warm O Rama

Upon arrival realized the cloud cover / surrounding tree line would pose a challenge for our eclipse viewing so we moseyed over to a different spot and found a prime viewing are for the show and got to work:

SSHs // Weed Pickers // Imperial Walkers // Sun Gods

The Thang

So the thought was hit your typical “Murph” exercises and sprinkle in some pieces that would have us on our 6 so we could take in — it kinda worked but the gains were good and the camaraderie high so that’s all that matters:

First we did the following Dora workout up and down the big hill at the park — while one partner ran to complete the set of exercises the other stayed at the top of the hill and completed the first exercise AMRAP and rinse repeat — 3 total sets for each exercise group:

– Merkins AMRAP + 10 swing rows x3

– LBCs AMRAP + 5 pull-ups x3

– Squats AMRAP + 5 burpees x3

Next, everyone moseyed out to the baseball fields on the backside of the park and we did light poles on the way back. One PAX called cadence and we did the following exercises at each light pole we passed:

– 15 Merkins

– 15 Big Boys

– 15 Squats

– 15 Copperhead Merkins

– 15 Squats

Once completed Nesquick informed the group that we were .2 short of some running mileage goal he had set. YHC obliged and we scratched Mary in favor of another brisk around the median and back home just as time expired.

COT

As always at Murph City we honored a fallen soldier in lieu of the 6. We honored Air Force Capt. Matthew D. Roland who lost his life August 26 2016 serving in Operation Freedom’s Sentinel in Afghanistan.

Balled it up at the end and prayed for prayer requests from the group. Coffeeteria was extra lively due to Election Day and was a fun time of fellowship. Even got a commit for an upcoming Murph City VQ — good day in the gloom gents.
