Right around the corner is the 20th Anniversary of September 11th and I wanted to do a Ruck WOD that would pay tribute to those lives lost. I found and modified a WOD that would have some significance to that day.
9/11 Tribute WOD
We started with a 2001 meter Ruck around Downtown Woodstock. I wanted us to get as much stairs and hill as possible for this 1.25mile Ruck. We headed out of the Amphitheater parking lot and up the stairs to Main street. Then headed down Mill street to the Noonday Creek Trail. Once on the trail, we turned back around to climb the hill to Elm street. We then made out way back up to main street to Fowler and looped back around and headed back to the Amphitheater. Once we were back at the main stairs at the center, I had a white board that displayed the WOD as follows:
9-Exercises/ 11 reps each. After each exercise it is up the 40 stairs, back down the 40 stairs and back to the start.
Step ups L/R leg counts as 1
Lunges w/ Ruck on – both legs count as 1
Flutter Kicks- 4 count with Ruck overhead
Squats- Ruck on
Once we picked up the six, E-Tool wanted to pay tribute to those recent 13 that lost their lives in Afghanistan. We performed 15 Man Makers as a group. We then headed back out for another 2001 meter Ruck. Coming back to the Flag, we performed another 15 Man Makers for a final Tribute and Planked till time.
We prayed for the military and their families for those still in Afghanistan and those affected by Covid. Everyone enjoyed our time with our fellow brothers this morning to pay tribute to that fateful day almost 20 years ago.
