So after being worn down week after week, day after day, minute after minute, I decided to make the long trek down to The Rock. I loaded up the car with luggage, snacks for the ride and good tunes and headed down that way this morning. On the way, a deer ran out in front of my car on Trickum Road. Good thing I was awake and alert!
I did get to The Rock in plenty of time to chat and hang out for a bit. It was a quiet morning…Jackalope is on the road and so therefore not at the beat-down. The one time I come down to the Rock, he’s not there. Nonetheless we press on.
I had no idea where I was going or how to get there, but I do know that I wanted to get to the stadium seating to do something I haven’t been able to do in all my times leading a beat-down… Mountain Merkins. Dig’em lead us over to the stadium and it was there that we did our warm ups: Side Straddle Hops, Weed Pickers and Imperial Walkers. I kept it brief. We had a lot to do.
We did Mountain Merkins on the stadium seating. We had our feet on one step and our hands on the step up. We did a Merkin and then climbed to the next step and continued this all the way to the top. We just did one set of these and then moved on.
I found a nice wall and we did the following:
10 Donkey Kicks
10 Leg Lifts (head near the wall and lifting legs to the wall)
10 Maaco Merkins
10 Mike Tyson’s or Mountain Climbers (2 count)
10 E2K (Elbow 2 Knee) – 10 each side
Rinse and Repeat 3 times.
Then we worked our way back to the flag. On the way back, we came across some bollards with lights on them and bear crawled from the first to the last on the way to the parking lot. Then at the parking lot, we did “mountain merkins” but using the yellow lines on the parking lot instead of the bleachers.
Then we did a ring of Fire doing a 2 count Flutter Kick. Each PAX did 5 reps and then the next guy went. Round two was 4 reps, then 3 reps until we were down to 1 rep. We did this again with American Hammers.
Finally we worked our way to the area by the flag and found some benches where we did Dips on the benches and then Inclined Merkins. Then we rested and did those again. Then we rested and did those again.
Finally we ended with a little Mary.
This morning was a bit of this and a bit of that working on our chest and our abs. I estimated that we did approximately 125 Merkins of some sort throughout the beat-down.
We ended in the COT and I forgot the sixth man, but I did pray for him.
