WARMUP: A quick mosey with our coupons to the field followed by weed pickers, windmills and SSH. During which LawDog tried his best to throw me off my game. I wasn’t having it… And apparently citing the Mission Statement and 5 Corp Principles isn’t a thing at THJ. WTF is that crap?!
THE THANG: Catch Me When You Can:
A variation of Catch Me If You Can with a twist. In pairs we’d take turns running around the large field while the other PAX did an evolution with the sandbag. When the partner running got around the field back to the starting point and caught up to the other PAX on the sandbag, they’d switch off but not before doing 3 exercises. Merkins, Big Boys and Squat Jumps; reps starting at 5, 10, 15 and going up by 5 each time the PAX switched off. The evolutions on the sandbags were a shoulder carry walk, shoulder carry light mosey, lunge walk carry and sandbag thrust toss.
Now you’d think this was easy enough to understand but of course LawDog was yapping and not paying attention… Good thing Bloodhound was his partner and explained it again to him. MK (aka Pella) partnered with White Claw, dumb decision on my part. And the Hardos of the group, Cricket and Manning, were the final pairing.
This BD was perfect as it prevented excessive mumble chatter and forced Manning and LawDog to actually put in extra work. White Claw did his very best to get around the field w/ the sandbag as far as possible causing Pella to get extra laps in to catch up.
The jump squats added for additional pain once the reps got above 25, especially with the sandbag lunge walking. All in all not a bad BD if I do say so myself, but of course I didn’t hear any of Mannings whining so I have no clue if he appreciated it! The two canines of the group put in the work, thanks to BH pushing LD.
Towards the end Cricket reminded me of the 3 mile guarantee so I called an audible and finished with a brisk Indian Run around the whole park parking lot. It become even more brisk when everyone starting jawing about not ending on time in addition to not getting the 3 miles in (which we did according to my watch). I later learned sand bag work negates the 3 mile guarantee, at least that’s what LawDog said during coffeteria.
Now I eagerly await Mannings Top 10 for a true evaluation of my Q.
