This was my 7th and final Q for the week. I was tired, body was hurting, and had to catch a plane to DR. When the alarm sounded, I knew I couldn’t let my Rucking brothers down who have been so welcoming. The great thing about F3, once you meet your F3 brothers at the AO, you get this burst of energy that you are ready to go. I got pumped and ready to lead this men in my first Rucking Q and the 30lb ruck on my back didn’t feel heavy at all.

We started at Canyons in downtown Woodstock, headed south on main St towards Hwy 5, at 15mins we stopped to do an exercise picked by a pax from a deck of note cards I created. The first one to pick was mouth-2-mouth and he picked Big Boys x 15. (Now this was a blind pick as I had the note cards faced upside down, so the pax would not pick the easiest one).We took our rucks off and got on our six, then we held our rucks with arms straight out and did big boys. We finished and kept going south until we turned left on Hwy 5, then, past railroad tracks, we turn left into apartment buildings. There was this trail that I wanted to get to but there was a gate blocking us. It was a decision to make, do we climb this 8ft metal gate or crawl underneath it. Then mouth-2-mouth to the rescue and found a way around the gate by going through a big gap on the side of the gate. As we got to the entrance of the trail, it was another 15mins and time for another pax to choose an exercise from the note cards. This time it was Dropboxs turn, and by chance or destiny he picked Burpees x 15. The reason why I say by chance/destiny is because we just were talking about how in rucking, you want to do burpees early in a ruck event instead of later. After completing the burpees we hit the trail and started heading back towards downtown Woodstock. At the end of the trail we headed right into a neighborhood that would put us behind Woodstock funeral home. There is literally a paved path between 2 houses and the back of the funeral home. We walk past the funeral home and end behind the downtown Woodstock shops. As we get to the entrance of stouts, it is time for our 3rd exercise. This time Macintosh gets to pick. He picked that we kept rucking for another 15 mins. So we kept going through the homes behind stouts and canyons, came back and headed down Towne lakes towards behind reformation brewery, and it was time for another exercise. 8bit turned to pick and we do big boys x 15. Time to head back to our starting point. With a few mins to spare, I tell the pax let’s complete the remaining exercises we didn’t pick. We completed them with Squats x 15 and Merkins x 15. Ended with a COT, picture and coffeeteria.

Workout

Ruck around downtown Woodstock area but every 15mins stop to perform an exercise picked from an upside down note cards from each pax you lead. If you have time in the end of your ruck. Finish any exercises that wasn’t picked during ruck. These are the exercises I had chosen

  • Merkins x 15
  • Squats x 15
  • Burpees x 15
  • Big boys x 15
  • Keep rucking for another 15 mins

I really enjoyed leading my first ruck but most of all the fellowship and welcoming by the Ruckers.
