Sgt Shojiro Yamashita was KIA 6/10/1970 in Vietnam. Yamashita was a friend of QIC’s veteran father, who has never spoken about his time of service. What is admirable about Yamashita, whose story is otherwise largely unknown, is that he was a Japanese-American, fighting for his country only 25 years after his parent’s homeland and his country had been at war and attitudes towards Japanese in America were hostile. Sgt Yamashita may be gone, but he is not forgotten.
