WARMUP: Morning River Shenanigans
THE THANG: Woke up to a cool clear morning. Had a hearty breakfast of eggs, pancakes, instant breakfast skillet and fried Summer Sausage. After breakfast, more river shenanigans ensued. BH and LC resorted to creating a bridge by chopping down a tree while Pella risked hyperthermia by going in the going barefoot in the river. The result of which was a busted baby toy and numbness for an hour. Also, no fish and the loss of a lure and all his fishing line. The group left out before lunch for a 4 mile hike to the final site. It was a relatively uneventful trek. One long meandering accent followed by a short but really steep climb gave way to the final downhill and a crossing of the river to the final camp site. At some point Pella lost another section of his spinning rod… This time it wasn’t found. But what the woods take, the giveth back… The final camp site had a full rod set left by another group. The group almost made it across the relatively easier crossing compared to the first. Except Forza, who went 6 first in the water. After everyone made it across, camp was made up. Shortly after, LC came down with illness that sidelined for the rest of the day. BH, Pella and Forza went fishing, no one caught anything, unless you count BH catching water after taking a tumble… That makes 3/4 getting dunked on the trip so far. Dinner was had and the sights and sounds of the woods at night by the light of a camp fire were taken in before everyone set off for bed.
