INTRO:

Westside asked for a little help covering the Q this a.m. and after I volunteered for last week and then bailed it seemed only fitting to lend a hand.

7 friendly faces joined me in the gloom this morning.  I went to bed last night fully anticipating a monsoon, but found only humidity.

WARM-O-RAMA:

A little help from Ricky Bobby with the time (as my watch was running 2 min fast) and we were off for a long mosey.  We took the long way around the school stopping for a few windmills and SSH.  Our mosey carried us to the front of the high school.  Upon arrival I laid out what, in my mind, seemed like a great plan…

THE THANG:

Our first challenge would be Catch me if you can.  The loop at the front of the school is almost exactly 1/4 mile and it seemed only fitting to do 4 laps.  We partnered up and started.  1st man in the team started the always fun backwards run while 2nd man started 10 burpees.  Upon burpee completion the race was on as no.2 chased down no.1.  We continued this cycle for a full lap.  For lap 2 we swapped burpees for 10 4-count flutter kicks…lap 3 back to burpees…lap 4 back to flutter kicks.  You may or may not be aware, but running backwards for 1/2 mile+ is pretty miserable.

After a quick 10 count we moved to our next 2 tasks.

1 – Bear Crawl Ring of Fire – Pax circled up and bear crawled until YHC call out a name.  Said person then completed 10 Merkins while the rest of us held plank.   Start the crawl all over again…our crawl time was totally dependent on the Pax who just completed Merkins.  We crawled until the next name was called…rinse and repeat until all Pax had completed Merkins.

2 – Duck walk, monkey humper, air chair Ring of Fire – Ok, so I may have reached a little bit on this one, but it wound up being pretty good.  Same idea as above only this time we duck walked as low as possible and completed 20 Monkey Humpers when our name was called.  Pax held air chair for the humpers…rinse and repeat until all Pax completed.

Upon completion we Indian Ran the long way back to the flag for Mary.  Each Pax called an exercise for Mary and each exercise would be 20 4-count reps….LBCs, Mtn. Climbers, American Hammers, Rosalinas, Crab Cakes , Ankle Slappers, Rocky Balboas, and finally more Flutter Kicks.
