Intro:

Today’s exercise in futility? Where do I begin?

Warm-o-Rama:

Get Trust Fall outfitted with all the gear he needed for his first ruck. Gut Check brought the bricks and Hooch made sure he glowed like a uranium plant.

The Thang:

Twas the day of St. Nicktricktine’s,
And all thru the park,
Three creatures with headlamps,
Lit up the dark.

Hooch in three shirts,
Gut Check in just one,
Welcomed Trust fall,
Who was dressed for the sun.

Rucking we started,
Over pine cones and mud pile
To dispel Jason McCarthy’s
15-minute mile

A mile would equal,
3 laps round the track,
But on the first lap,
Hooch nearly busted his back

When what to our headlight,
On two wheels would appear,
A Suzuki Samurai,
It’s Secret and his dog in the rear

We waited no time
Secret ran with his pack
We were on a mission
He’d just pace the back

15:33 for Gut Check’s 1 mile
Even with chatter that elicited a smile.

“It’s doable” Hooch quietly snapped
“If Gut Check would only just shut his trap!”

The pax had no clue
What I had planned next
But to rope them together
By carabiner and necks

Three miles we would
Trying to keep a good pace
Except Atlas the dog
Tried to put us each on our face

Ruck with a dog
A good idea it would seem
But with Secret walking it
That was just a dream

Rope and leash make
For A really tangled trial
Saved by Christmas and Valentines
Lights every mile

Trust Fall the hill
He hates with a passion
So Gut Check kept talking
To keep Time a passing

3 Miles we made it
And nobody died
Well, except maybe
Our St. Nicktricktine’s pride!

Happy St. Nicktricktine’s Day. (Southside ruckers know!!)

COT:

Prayers for:
Hooch’s friend Bill
Secret’s career changes
Trust fall’s friend who has a liver mass

Naked Man Moleskin:

4mph on a treadmill is mice nuts. Our moms can walk that. But I’ve been obsessing lately over cracking a 15-minute mile, which GoRuck says is what I should be doing with 30 lbs.

I can keep that pace, but my mouth won’t let me. I ruck because these guys are amazing to talk to, and I just end up slowing down.

But who cares! I definitely talked :33 off the pace today and it was worth every word!
