Intro:

Leading up to today YHC was very excited to VQ. After refining my music playlist and exercise routine throughout the week I was ready to get after it this morning!

Warm-o-Rama:

Began with a mosey around the parking lot jamming out to “Your Love” by The Outfield.

The Thang:

YHC typically hits up the Happy Jack on Thursday mornings. Since I was missing the Happy Jack I made sure to bring a little taste of it to the Lions Den. YHC had PAX partner up and run in opposite directions around the parking lot circle. Each time partners met on the circle it was time for Merkins. First meet up 5, then 10, then 15, and finally 20. This added up to approximately half a mile run and 50 Merkins. PAX would plank while waiting on the 6. Shout out to Smurfette and Spanx for not letting the PAX just stay in plank position but leading in right arm up, left arm up, etc.

Next up was Kung Pao Shrugs. PAX circled up in plank position while each PAX carried 2 5-gallon containers of Panda Express Basic Sauce around the circle and back to their original spot for the next man to go (Basic Sauce already had been used and containers filled up with water). YHC brought 4 of these containers and we were only using 2 of the containers going one PAX at a time initially. It was recommended after a few people had done their Kung Pao Shrugs that we should use the other 2 containers and go 2 PAx at a time (good modification recommendation Chops). After all PAX did their shrugs around the circle we recovered.

Next, get another partner and repeat first exercise of running and doing 5,10,15,20 Merkins each time you meet your partner.

PAX circle up in squat position. 2 PAX at a time duck walk around circle back to their original spot. While in squat position PAX would hold and pass around Basic Sauce containers.

Partner up again, but this time just 2 meet ups with your partner doing 10 Merkins each time.

PAX circle up for another round of Kung Pao Shrugs but instead of circling in plank position PAX circled up and did Cherry Pickers. At some point Fleetwood informed YHC that while “Somebody to Love” is a great song, it’s not quite got the beat needed for this exercise. Touché my friend. YHC changes song to “Baba O’Riley” – it’s go time!

Partner up again for another 2 meet ups around the parking lot circle with 10 Merkins each time. Oh wait, YHC gets challenged by Hartford and Fleetwood to get the PAX to do Burpees instead of Merkins. Challenge accepted!

PAX finished up just in time for a little Mary led by Smurfette, Floppy, Blackhawk, and Grylls.

By my count each PAX got about 1.5 miles of running in 120 pushups, 20 Burpees, and a bunch of shoulders exercise that got a good burn.

COT:

‘-3rd 500 on 2/2/19 (really looking forward to this)
-3rd F convergence tomorrow morning (1/25/19) at Family Traditions @ 6 AM
-Grylls shared the importance of finding men in your life to be able to speak openly and honestly about what’s going on in your life. The Enemy wants us men to be in isolation. We are created to be in relationship and community with others. Get plugged into a 3rd F, men’s group at your church, etc.

Naked Man Moleskin:

It’s been put on YHC’s heart recently how important the decisions we make (big and small) are. Our decisions matter, how we treat the person at the drive-thru matters, how we communicate with people we just met matters, all decisions matter. Just like all people matter. The challenge this morning was to identify people in your life you can breath life into and not take life away. There is enough pain and brokenness in this world; let’s not add anymore but instead be part of the healing power.
