Intro:

The fellas were requesting the YHC were my tights for this mornings Q. Alas, the tights were temporarily missing – nowhere to be found – and I had to disappoint. Once we started the workout, based on the noises coming from several PAX, it’s probably best I didn’t show up looking my best!

Warm-o-Rama:

Mosey to the front of the school, circle up for:

20 IC SSH,
10 IC Windmills,
The Quadmire Stretch (Legionnaire says that what we are calling it now)
Runners Stretch,
Sun Gods OYO,
Finished with a few ‘reach for the stars.’

The Thang:

Thang 1:
Super 21’s:

Much to the PAX’s surprise, Alcoa actually had a good idea (!) to move under the awning and avoid the wet asphalt. (YHC prefers to stay dry whenever possible, especially when it's cold out.) Super 21: Do 1 merkin followed by 1 big boy situp (bbs); 2 merkins / 2 bbs; 3 merkins / 3 bbs, etc., ……. up to 21 merkins/ 21 situps (total of 231 merkins and 231 situps). It didn’t take long for the mumblechatter to evolve into heavy breathing and moaning. Misty and Yokel were especially passionate in this regard. Hey – not that there’s anything wrong with that! We took breaks after 10 reps and 15 reps, inserting 20 mountain climbers and 20 IC SSH for recovery. Towards the end, it became painfully obvious that Alcoa’s merkins were more like planks than actual merkins. So, to reward the PAX for his effort, we added a bonus round of hand-release merkins spelling out A-L-C-O-A on the down reps.

Thang 2:
Bojangles Biscuit – modified as necessary.

Remaining in front of the school, we used the island parking lots to mimic a 400m track, only with fewer meters. Lining up in the starting position, the Q called out either merkins, or burpees or both (sometimes saying one but meaning the other), and upon completion we took off to Sprint the straight and mosey through the corner. Line up on the next straight, rinse and repeat. Hats off to Legionnaire, and Lively for pushing themselves here.

Back to the flag where Misty led us in too many Crunchy Frogs and Lively finished it with American Hammers. Because of course, we needed more ab work after the Super 21s.

COT:

Upcoming 5Ks 2/23 – the Guns & Hoses and an unofficial 5K at Reformation Brewery in Woodstock.

Naked Man Moleskin:

Fellas, sign up to Q! You’ll be glad you did. I have been traveling a lot for work during the past two weeks and got home late Thursday night. I was exhausted and would have definitely slept in Friday am, but I was the Q. And, I’m glad I was. It prevented me from sleeping in and instead I got a great workout with a bunch of good guys. Definitely the right call. Thanks, Fellas.
