Spoke about the idea of picking up the 6, which we did a lot of today. Jungle Love spoke about those struggling with depression and to never shy away from checking on a brother that seems down or checked out. We need each other in this world, life is already hard enough. Life is much better in community. Matchstick spoke about how often they are called out for suicide threats. Much higher rate than most PAX thought. How can we reach out to someone this week to encourage them?
Naked Man Moleskin:
YHC got there early to stretch, and thankfully most did prior to beatdown, because there would be little warm up
PAX showed up in gleeful joy for another glorious morning in the gloom at Paragon, until we dropped to burpees immediately, then they knew it was going to be truly spectacular and all applauded in unison
One PAX decreed with gratitude, "It's going to be that kind of beatdown…great." I could read the happiness in that comment, even if his middle finger was extending towards me. You're welcome and I hope your finger gets better!
With smiles on our faces, we ran around the school. Garfield and Tinder were skipping together.
I asked for the PAX help as I knew burpees were going to be a big part of the Spartan race on Saturday. YHC's first race and may fail, so need their help. They agreed wholeheartedly to help YHC with burpee training. As we were getting ready for Updowns, Drumstick, with humility and grace, pointed out in a most helpful way that YHC's a$$ was too high in the air, with no sarcasm at all. YHC was truly grateful as this was exactly what was needed.
We passed Grylls by the flag, somewhat asleep on the grass, and decided to do burp and merks beside him to encourage his quick recovery. Matchstick helpfully pointed out that YHC is making this up as he goes along. Again, eternal gratefulness for this kind of input that was going to be fully expressed by our next exercise on the field. You're the man Matchstick! Even if you tried to kill YHC last week at Blacktop with your truck.
I could see the PAX's eyes lighting up as YHC explained we would be doing 100 merkins together in 10 yd intervals. Cuban said a prayer of thanks, YHC is sure that it was not a prayer that YHC would change his mind.
As the 13 PAX did the bataan death march, they helpfully point out that the lines were uneven and it was unfair. YHC was incredibly, enthusiastically glad they pointed this out. Not…annoyed…at…all…
Slight groans of, what YHC took as frivolity, as we approached the field again to do burpee broad jumps. Drumstick decided to sprint across the field instead, that is the only possible explanation of how he finished so fast and YHC is sticking to it.
Kiffin heard Grylls start counting (the same way Ron Burgundy did in Anchorman with curls) as the PAX approached. YHC was glad he got a full 5 min workout in.
