Intro:
Did you know we have two regularly scheduled MTB Beatdowns: Wild Hogs and Del Fuegos. Appropriately named after the great epic film of middle age men defeating sad clown syndrome in their own Unique way. Now that spring is here and the trails are drying faster we are able to post consistently. 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. Just bring a helmet.
Warm-o-Rama:
We road from the parking lot to the trails. Homeboy is extra chipper this morning. He must have ate his avacodo toaste this morning.
The Thang:
First up was Dwelling. YHC maintained a consistent position in the back of the pax to keep an eye on everyone. However, Homeboy was on fire this morning. The extra training for the 24 hour race must be paying off because he came out of no where. He got in some extra miles by pushing himself around the loop twice.
From Dwelling, the Pax went to Misquito Bite. This is is sold as a beginner trail and the 8 yo girl would have laughed at the way YHC (LD by the way) attacked the creeks. Eyes closed and praying for dry land. From Misquito Bite, up Van Michael. Great training for the Blue Ridge. Serious climbing that YHC was proud to say did not result in a lowest gear. Close, but my leg strenght is increasing. Ailse 7 is in beast mode. However, again Homeboy was a phenom. There is one Giant rock out cropping that Homeboy attacked with such speed and determination, I would have never known one could fly the way he did. TClaps.
The 3rd and final push was this trail called Kavorkian. Holly Crapolla Batman. YHC put his trus in the Pax and followed, but trusted my feet on the terra firma nd granite much more than the peddles. But as Mickey said, All good climbs come with fun down hills. It was a blast.
COT:
A lot of 2.0s with injuries and illnesses. We lift them up in prayer.
Naked Man Moleskin:
I can't believe what I saw from Homeboy. Know one would believe the ride he had. Truely could have been one of the greats. If only he WOULD HAVE REMEMBERED TO WEAR A HELMET!!! Geesh. Hombre needs to get well soon. We need his leadership and guidence in these situations. Mainly because he has the funny looking fubar helmet that Pax get to where when they forget to pack their own. Homeboy found a helmet by the wooden track but his head must be at least twice as big as the average 8 year old, because that puppy was not going to work. TCLAPS to him though because he went for a trail run instead of packing up and leaving.
If you have not mountain biked before, it is a lot of fun. Kicks my butt all the time. I love the challenge of it and a great change of pace from the normal bootcamps. Kills my cardio more than anything else I do (even Kettlebells).
