INTRO:
The morning was dark and the men were tired. YHC showed up to the gloom so excited to get started that he locked his keys in the truck. YHC got the chance to meet Gut Check and Swamp Donkey. Very excited to meet any man named Swamp Donkey. What is that exactly?
The closer we got to start time YHC got more and more nervous about the Q that he had planned. They always say if you can’t do it, don’t Q it. Based off of some of the dry runs I had made, I was concerned I couldn’t pull it off today. Enough about that…..time to GOOOOOO!!!
WARM-O-RAMA:
PAX Mosy’d to the front of the school to the carpool lanes for a little warm up consisting of the following. With an FNG in our presence today, had to cover the basics, the disclaimer and set the pace by picking on a few PAX to get started.  It was quiet in the circle this AM. YHC soothed the PAX with his calming and relaxing voice during warm up.
SSH – IC – X 11
Windmills – IC – X 9
Weed Pickers – IC – X 9
Michael Phelps – OYO
Sun Gods – OYO
THE THANG:
PAX didn’t have to move from their warm up spot to start The Thang. YHC was inspired by two people for the workout today. Bloodhound and his M.
And it sounded something like this…..
PAX circled up and to the sounds of Bring Sally Up (found here). The version of the song YHC had was 3:26 long. Nothing like a little early morning muscle endurance. To be fair, each ‘Sally Up Exercise’ was partitioned by a sprint up the hill and just to keep the body loose; 5 SSH’s IC.
- Squats (Down: Hold in squat position; Up: Stand)
- Leg Lifts (Down: Hold legs at 6 inches; Up: Raise legs up high)
* around this time is where the silence became deadly (ahem….you know who you are) - Merkins (Down: Hold chest at 6 inches; Up: Upper push up position)
- Alternating Lunges (Down: Take turns lunging each leg and hold; Up: Stand)
- Bench Dips (Down: Hold in down position; Up: Push up)
- Plank (Down: Hold plank on elbows; Up: Hold plank position in upward merkin position)
After feeling like there was not enough high intensity cardio in today’s workout the PAX then mosy’d back to the flag where we lined up for some good ole fashioned 20 yard dashes…..approximately. PAX threw down 4 of those bad boys before YHC threw everyone on their 6 for a last minute american hammer session to wrap it up.
CIRCLE OF TRUST:
The PAX circled, The PAX counted off, The PAX did the name thing, the PAX listened to the sixth man, then the PAX named the FNG.
6th Man – Homeboy was the sixth man today. We all concluded that there is not much we do not already know about him. However he reminded us of his past, how God has changed his life, and how F3 continues to impact and improve him as a man, a father, a husband, and a servant.
FNG – Named Bubba Aziz: Abdel Altamimi – 35 year old man who introduced himself as half arabian, half redneck. Which has two jobs, one of which he is partnered in. Great sense of humor and which was someone highlighted by the fact that he tried to name himself a few times. Swamp Donkey was going to have NONE of that! Bubba Aziz shared his story of growing up with family from two completely different ethnicity’s and beliefs and the difficulties as well as fun in that.
Naked-Man Moleskin:
The 6th man and our new FNG today reminded YHC of how different we all are but how alike we all are at the same time. We all crave to be better men. We all want that fellowship with others that are like minded and want to be better men too. It is very easy to see the differences we have in people by our backgrounds, our looks, our voices, our jobs, our beliefs, and our lifestyles. I challenge all of us to continue to look beyond the easy and find the similarities, in that you will find connection and strength. In that you will build relationship and friendship. From that you will grow strength and loyalty.
