INTRO:

Sorry for the delay, YHC tried to post this several days ago, but it apparently got hung up in the posting process..

YHC was honored to get the opportunity to kick off a new AO near Bridgemill. There’s lot of potential (and hills) at this new location. Since YHC had never been to this AO before, YHC showed up around 5 and found a police officer waiting in the parking lot. YHC start jogging around the area checking out the options for the beatdown and swung by the officer’s car to give him a head’s up. He was cool about things, wished us luck, and went tearing out of the parking lot like he just got his drivers license.

WARM-O-RAMA:

Since this was the AO launch, we took a short mosey around the main parking lot, but stayed close to the flag for any late comers. It was a good thing as a FNG showed a few minutes late.

THE THANG:

We headed down to the front of the elementary school parking lot and partnered up for a Merkin Mile.

– Partners head opposite directions
– When you meet after 1/2 lap, perform 15 Partner Derkins (the audible groan from one of the FNGs brought such joy to my heart
– When you meet again and finish the lap, perform 15 Pattycake Mercans
– On the turns of each lap, perform 20 lunge walks
– 4 laps and plank for the 6

During my morning walk around the school, I found the perfect hill for some 11s. Monkey Humpers at the top, Mountain Climbers at the bottom. YHC’s favorite moment here was as I announced Monkey Humpers, one of the FNGs exclaimed, “Oh ho ho, I know this one!”  He was an eager one.

After 160 walking lunges on the prior exercise, the hill and Monkey Humpers made the burn set in early on this one. There was some Mary as we waited for the six and it was time to head back to the flag and name some FNGs.

CIRCLE OF TRUST:

– Prayers for a young man Dixie Chick mentioned that was heading into the military, and also just found out he was adopted. Prayers for peace as he’s had a lot of upheaval in his life.
– Prayers for a 40ish father that recently passed away in Hickory Flat

Naked-Man Moleskin:

YHC wanted to share with the FNGs the heart of F3, and it’s mission is captured really well in Proverbs 17:17 “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.” Obesity and isolation and two of the major problems in our current culture. We weren’t made to push through life alone. At some point, adversity is bound to come into your life. In F3, we post in the gloom and manufacture some adversity and push each other through it, build one another up, and then go out to serve people. When real-life adversity kicks in, we just fall right into what we practice in the gloom; rally around the PAX, lock shields, and build one another up!
