INTRO:
Veterans Day is a day to appreciate and honor those who’ve served our country and thank them for their service. That is what this event was about. At the same time the selfless donations of our groups raised enough to change the lives of atleast 10 families. Help them find careers upon transition, help them find higher paying careers, help them finding employment quicker and help them with the struggles veterans face not understanding civilian life.
WARM-O-RAMA:
THE THANG:
With 60 Pax, it was always going to be needed to split into groups. Just like the military having different groups and separate branches to work together. We had Army, Marines, Navy and Air Force.
Army led by Bloodhound and Westside and joined by infamous sandbabies. Played a game called bring sally up bring sally down. Followed by Kodiak Crawl, Mary with Sand Babies.
Marines- Led by Dixie Chick, Lively abd Vault. Today is Marine 243 birthday. 17 body builders, Lunges with Pain sticks, 243 partner merkins and lap with pain sticks.
Navy-Mickey holding it down. He explained his position if the navy and tied it in with the beatdown. We did series of different exercises with duck walls in between.
Air Force- Chief Wiggum flying solo. We used the practice field to “fly†around. Partner or wing man workout. Partner one ran a good distance to opposites side of the field did 6 burpees and returned while partner 2 did exercise of choice until they returned. Each station lasted 10-12 mins with 5 burpees in between stations to represent the struggles veterans face.
CIRCLE OF TRUST:
Great convergence beatdown with ladies of Fia and the Southsiders. Cricket led us in prayer and made s great point. I work with a lot of veterans with disability and we’re learning more and more not all wounds are visible. So thank that veteran when you see them and remember to be there for each other. It’s not just about the workout. Go back for the 6 and just because you can’t see your brother or sister hurting doesn’t mean they don’t need you.
