INTRO:

One goal in mind this morning: run as little as possible. 10 PAX, including 1 FNG, rolled into the parking lot for this morning festivities. 0530 sharp we moseyed 30 feet to form a circle. We’ve completed the run portion!

WARM-O-RAMA:

Nice and slow warm-up this morning so I busted out the Military Warm Up Drill. The exercises are as follows:

5x Bend and Reach
5x Rear Lunge
5x High Jumper
5x Rower
5x Squat
5x Windmill
5x Forward Lunge
5x Prone Row
5x Iron Crosses
5x Merkins

A list of the exercises with explanation can be found here:  http://www.armyprt.com/preparation_and_recovery/preparation-drill.shtml

Now that we were all warmed up it’s time to start the show. No need to move. We were already in position.

THE THANG:

The Power 1/2 Hour

For those familiar with the concept of a Power Hour (1 shot of beer every minute for 1 hour), I modified the concept for use for a beatdown (sorry, no beer was involved….this time). YHC even had a power hour playlist complete with 1-minute clips of ALL our favorite 90’s songs. When the music starts the PAX would perform the announced exercise AMRAP until the song switches. This went on for 30 minutes! The list of exercises were:

1. Air Presses
2. American Hammers
3. Squat
4. Merkin
5. LBC
6. Monkey Humper
7. J-Lo
8. Crunchy Frogs
9. Lunges
10. Carolina Dry Docks
11. Reverse LBC’s
12. SSH
13. Makhtar N’Diayes
14. Hip Thrusters
15. Burpees
16. Alternating Shoulder Taps
17. Al Gores
18. Seal Claps
19. 6-inch Hold
20. Mountain Climbers
21. Mike Tyson
22. Big Boy Situps
23. Bobby Hurleys
24. Copperhead Merkins
25. Box Cutters
26. Ankle Touch
27. Crab Cakes
28. Star Jumps
29. Dollys
30. Flutter Kicks

30 minutes of awesome tunes later (notable nods to The Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Weezer, Blink-182, Spice Girls, Brittany Spears, Chumbawumba, and so, so many more) the routine wrapped up and we did a slow 10-count. With a little under 5 minutes remaining YHC decided to take the PAX to Q-School!

Q-School

The Q-School is a method of calling on newer PAX to lead the group in an exercise to get them some exposure to leading so that we can get them comfortable enough to lead a beatdown. The PAX chosen and their exercises were:

RedHat – 10x Burpees (very nice!)
Wingman – 15x Merkins OYO
Zillow – OYO SunGods
Pelosi – 20x Monkey Humpers (brutal!)

0615 on the nose and YHC called it. No need to mosey since we were already at the flag. That’s a wrap!!!

CIRCLE OF TRUST:

Name-o-rama, 6th Man (Pelosi, *Happy Birthday!*), Praises and Prayers. Prayers for Harp and his dad, Woody and his new 2.0, and Cricket with his pregnant M.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

I really appreciate this opportunity to rotate through 30 minutes of 90’s music while at a beatdown. Hopefully our new FNG enjoyed his new name and will be back. Thank you all for the support and for putting up with all of my crazy ideas. I may tweak this one just a bit, but it will definitely make another appearance. SYITG
