INTRO:

YHC showed up this morning with a well thought out plan of what I wanted to do based on what parts of my body still hurt the most.  This is getting to be standard routine, for YHC as it seems most days, something just aches. But since everything still had a twinge of suck to it from Saturday, I decided to hit a little upper body and lower body about equal.

WARM-O-RAMA:

We headed down to the well-lit area in front of the stadium and knocked out a few IC Weed Pickers, Hill Billies, and copperhead squats in a random assortment of reps that I can’t still remember, but they were all around 10(ish).

THE THANG:

Head down to the football field and line up on the goal line.  At this point, I’m sure Resttop is thinking “Man are we doing the same crap as last week?”  While that has happened a time or 5 at the Hurtlocker, not today good sir, not today. So since it is football season, one of the worlds greatest times of the year, I chose to do a load the football field (because the only bus was Jerome Bettis & he hasn’t shown up to a workout yet).  We alternated between merkins and squat jumps at each of the 10-yard markers, starting with the opposite goal line being 100. The Pax was instructed that on the even yard markers we would do the merkins followed by squats on the odds. It was quickly pointed out that all of the 10-yard markers were in fact even, as multiples of 10 are even.  Math. Slightly embarrassed by my poor math reasoning skills I pressed on to explain that the odd/even was for the first number of the 10’s, so the second round we stopped 90 yards from home, 9 is odd, we did 90 squat jumps. After completing 90 squat jumps an audible was called “OMAHA!” In place of squat jumps, just squats. We continued until everyman finished loading the football field.

Mosey to the benches by the concession stand.  As most of the men in attendance were not among my regular weekday Hurt Locker crew, I took them through 3 rounds of dips/step ups (10 of each) and a run down the path and up the stairs after each round.  We ended our time at the field with a round of balls to the walls, with 20 LBCs to everyman that dropped before the winner. Fleetwood & YHC tied so we both did LBCs and all headed back to the flag. On the way, Hank Hill turned on the afterburners causing YHC to sprint to keep pace, again a tie at the flag.

We had enough time to go around to each man for a little Mary, which there seems to be some slight confusion about.  YHC was expecting so big boi sit-ups and American hammers, YHC got instead Mike Tyson’s, Monkey Humpers, and SSH (along with a few ab exercises thrown in).  I like each man’s take on what exercise they felt comfortable calling cadence with. Nothing says it HAS to be ab work.

CIRCLE OF TRUST:

  • Thank you again for all who gave so graciously to Falyn & her family
  • Prayers still for Kiffin and his family
  • Praise for the life we have all been blessed with.  We are all very blessed men, YHC is reminded of that each time he sees his family, has a full belly, and counts off at the end of a workout.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Never met Hank Hill before today, glad he came up to the Northside for some Labor day fun and pushed me.  It is great that we can have a completely different crew of men show up at a workout and have the same intensity and mumble chatter.
