INTRO:
Wow, what can I say? I am humbled to be a part of such a great group of men.  I brought up the idea of Qing a 9/11 beatdown a couple months ago to Garfield (the Paragon site Q). It was going to be my VQ so I was a little nervous to even ask. Garfield loved the idea and the first thing he said was “let’s make it a convergence!†Convergence? VQ? I quickly realized that I was probably in over my head and luckily Garfield said I should probably get my VQ in before the 9/11 convergence.
YHC arrived at about 5:10 to make some last minute preparations only to see Kiffin already waiting in the parking lot. Â A few minutes later a couple more folks showed up. At about 5:20 there was maybe 20 pax waiting in the gloom. I confirmed with Harp that he had brought plenty of coupons (thanks Harp). By 5:29 there was more Pax circled up in the gloom than I could count! Luckily LawDog and Garfield brought more coupons and weighted backpacks (thanks guys)! Â Here goes the nerves, and I asked for a count-o-Rama, which led us to 49 pax!
WARM-O-RAMA:
We started off by going to each of the vehicles that contained coupons and everybody grabbed one, some got big coupons, some got small coupons, some got backpacks. We did a slow mosey up Hurl Hill and to the practice field where we circled up for a warm up.
Quick Disclaimer and explanation, Â when the firemen responded to the attacks on 9/11 the buildings were on fire and many of the elevators were inoperable. This means that the firemen had to try to get to the people needing rescuing on the top floors of two 110 story buildings. This means lots of stairs. Â The firemen also carried equipment, this means coupons. Once they arrived at the floor, they may have had to crawl to do their work, this means bear crawls.

â€Grab your coupons, let’s mosey to the stairsâ€
THE THANG:
We made it to the bottom of the stairs and lined up. Then YHC confused everyone, including YHC with partnering up, but we got it figured out and everyone said hey to their new partner.
Partner 1 picks up a coupon and begins on the stairs. (About 50 stairs in all). First time up with coupon, second time up without.
Partner 2 begins his bear crawl to a designated spot that YHC previously marked out with some rags from my basement .
About 15 minutes into the thang, we added the coupons into the bear crawl as well.  It was then pointed out that this was causing a lot of marks across the parking lot so we went back to a coupon free bear crawl. Side note, don’t challenge Kiffin to a bear crawl race!
With 15 minutes left we all grouped up and grabbed our coupons at the bottom of the stairs. Â The Pax then proceeded to do more stairs carrying their coupon, we had the option to drop the coupon at the bottom if we needed to modify but not many pax chose to take that option.
7 minutes left, let’s carry our coupons on a nice walk back to the flags.  Cuban and Nomad though it would be a good idea to Mosey with their coupons which of course caused most of the pax to mosey as well. Nothing like good ole peer pressure!
The pax made it back to the flag where we did a couple minutes of Mary. YHC found out that a lot of people in the group really like the plank with 6 inches added in. The more the mumble chatter continued, the longer we continued planks with 6 inches. Â We finally rounded out with some LBCs that brought us right to 6:15.
CIRCLE OF TRUST:
We started out with the 6th man which ended up being Dory. Dory layed down some wisdom on us for his 6th man intro. Dory took a boating trip just him and his dad in 2004, before his father passed away in 2009. I’d say he feels very blessed to have had this trip with his father and will cherish the memories they made. Dory exhorted all the pax to make opportunities like this, especially if they still have their fathers around. You won’t regret it. Thanks Dory for sharing that.
We had one FNG today! What an awesome day for him to show up! On top of that, he wasn’t warned about what F3 would be like and how we sometimes are weird with the way we do things. He said he found us online because he was on the internet looking for a good place to meet some people (boy did he find the place!). Due to the FNG finding us online, he was aptly named Tinder, thanks for “swiping right†Tinder!
We finished up the COT with prayer requests, announcements and a prayer provided to us by Preacher, thanks Preacher! Preacher has a better speaking voice than Morgan Freeman!
Naked-Man Moleskin:
After the beatdown, a nice contingent relocated to Cherokee Fire Station 8, in the downtown Holly Springs area, to serve them breakfast and to say thank you for what they do for our community. We give a special thanks to Oops, The Vault, and FaultLine for coordinating with the fire station. Thanks goes out to Kiffin for Qing this part and Chitwood for providing the main meal, which I quickly received a call saying how good it was, and to all who brought food and drinks and helped at the fire station. Â FNG Tinder jumped right in to the action and went to the fire station to help the Pax serve!
I was told that the firemen going off shift recieved a call right as breakfast was being served, hopefully they got back and were able to enjoy Chitwoods awesome breakfast casserole. This is the life of a fireman though, luckily food can be warmed up.
Yall keep being awesome!
