INTRO:
It’s FROGTOWN Week! But with 5 days to go there is still enough time for a pretty solid beatdown at the Wicked Witch. The PAX were 10 strong, WW continues to grow and CSAUP events certainly help. A couple even decided to try a 0500 pre-run in prep for Saturday’s 10-miler. Add 3 more of our 4 legged friends for a total of 32 legs to hit the trails. This was YHC’s first Q at the Wicked Witch, and it showed… several missed turns.
WARM-O-RAMA:
Mosey down the road to the barn. Except… YHC missed the barn. BACK UP. Nothing like headlamps in your face at 0530. Circle up near the old barn – which doubled over the weekend as a wedding photo background that YHC and 2.0 McFarland stumbled across. Plenty of cute gals for the 2.0, but the boy has no game. But I digress…
- 15x SSH
- 10x Week Pickers low and slow
- Lunge stretch things with no name that YHC recalls
THE THANG:
First, a quick run across the Old Bullpen Road to the Pink Trail. Nice loop with a gradual incline on the way out.
Then the long slow run down the road to the end, to catch the Green trail. Several of the PAX are familiar with the trails with some fun nicknames. YHC only knows them by the colors on the map.
(Note to self, there is one big root on this trail to easily jump over just like any other, but this one is followed by a tiny twig that has sent YHC to the ground twice now. I will FIND you twig. And I will CUT you.)
Green joins blue, and at the intersection to go back up the hill, the group performed 50x Merkins, planking to wait on the 6. Once done. Up the hill! Back down, rinse and repeat. After the 2nd trip, another 50x Merkins, this time nice and wide for some MUCHO CHESTO.
And this is where plans deviated… YHC had planned a trip down red to orange trail for the Triangle up and down hill for some more MUCHO HILLO. However, the Witch, she is quite deceiving by darkness, and YHC guessed his way along to cross the river and take the yellow trail back to the parking lot. So… how about a stop at the Pullup Bars for 3 Rounds of 10x Pull-ups and 20x Merkins, more MUCHO CHESTO.
The Orange Trail and Triangle Hill would have made perfect timing to wrap it up, but since we missed it, we hit Old Bullpen road again for another loop on the Pink Trail. Leaving just enough time for a few rounds of Mary.
(One last note to self… Is YHC the only one that rolls an ankle on the flat areas? I mean CMON. Roots, logs, manure, rocks, no problem, but a nice flat spot and OUCH there goes the ankle again.)
CIRCLE OF TRUST:
- Prayers for Cricket’s Mom and for Cricket as he helps her through difficult news with her diagnosis
- Continued prayers for Lawdog’s Uncle, who was recently in a bad accident down near Macon area
- Pray for Floppy’s Uncle who has had 5x bypass surgery and seems to have had a stroke in recovery
- Prayers for marriages. In particular pray for Wham-O’s brother-in-law, in general several PAX mentioned the need to say something to others, don’t man-up and hide it, or actually do man-up and share it before it’s too late. Nacho Libre gave some good advice about counseling helping even early in marriage.
- And pray for the PAX running the FROGTOWN on Saturday. Go get em boys! REPRESENT!!!
Naked-Man Moleskin:
Didn’t get a chance to share this story in the COT. I completely SMASHED my iPhone on Friday. Like bent in half, shattered front and back, see inside to the guts, broken. Several lessons learned. One, don’t lose your temper and slam the tailgate when your phone is on the bumper. B: I was helpless without a phone this weekend, but man that stinkin device is such a huge part of our lives, and it shouldn’t be. Thirdly: As leaders in our families we should all consider ways to back off the devices a bit. Set rules. How about not at the table. Or limit use for the 2.0’s (and for us). Maybe a “no devices” night as family. Our family is going to try a no devices night with sitting around the table doing some sort of family devotional. Wish me luck.
