INTRO:
After late night attempts to EH Geppetto into his first ruck, YHC was pleasantly surprised to see him join a strong contingent of HIMs ready to set off at 6 in the morning for a ruck in the misty morning. It’s mornings like these that I truly believe played a part in the coining of the phrase, “see you in the gloom”. We set off as 5, but by the time we finished our 3.5 miles, Yogi had abandoned his run to join us. With two of our companions splitting to go do a 5K, after our 5K (Dory and Alcoa going above and beyond!), Geppetto stuck with me along with Rest Stop and Mickey to head over to the tables for my 0.0 VQ. Here’s what went down:
WARM-O-RAMA:
First things first, get the playlist going
SSH x 16 (forgot the inflection at 15)
windmill x 10
weed picker x 10

THE THANG:
Went to my ol’ reliable, this time really excited to not have our sets interrupted by that pesky running. Instead I figured I’d be able to inflict equal amounts of pain on various muscle groups. Started things off with Bruce Lee. 20 reps of six ab exercises (American Hammers, Flutter kicks, LBCs, Heel Touches, Crunchy Frogs and Big Boy Sit Ups) kodiak count where appropriate. Feeling the burn after the first round we went straight into some Mucho Chesto. 10 reps of various merkins (correct spelling per the F3 exicon!), which consisted of regular, wide, diamond, right hand forward and left hand forward. With abs and arms/chest feeling the burn I targeted the lower body with Aiken Legs. 20 reps of squats, box jumps, lunges and split jacks, rubicon count where appropriate. Rinse and repeat!
On the 2nd round of Aiken Legs after reminding the group that Bruce Lee did reps of 90 each for 7 sets, with fatigue setting in and the benches slick with the continued mist, we modified to Star Jumps to avoid injury. On round 3 lo and behold another PAX emerged from the gloom and asked if they could cut in. Chops jumped right in and finished out the 4th full set with us. We got most of the way through a 5th set of Bruce Lee just to make sure we went over the 500 mark for our abs, tightening things up before hibernation and next year’s beach season.
CIRCLE OF TRUST:
Prayers for Mickey’s mother and the family of her close friend that took her life as they seek understanding and solace in His ultimate plan. Also, praying for those involved in various races as they travel and push their bodies and minds to achieve their goals.
Naked-Man Moleskin:
Negotiations were had regarding who got credit for Chops attendance and we decided since he finished with B0.0mtown then we got to count him, even if he did double dip and attend both COTs.
Speaking of Chops, he shared with the group that he had lost 96 lbs on his new diet and exercise regimen. Great job, Chops and keep going for your goal of 100!
Talked about the importance of this group and how anyone feeling down and having doubts of their worth and value to this world and their family and friends should talk to someone about their feelings. We’ve got a bunch of guys that have opened up and been vulnerable enough to share the trials they are going through recently and in te past. They serve as a testament to the support and encouragement that this group can pour out to those in need, all you have to do is put it out there and they will be there.
As always, it was a pleasure, gentlemen! Misty out!
