INTRO:

Lo and Behold, the PAX of Paragon seem few.  But be awares of these mighty men, for much like Moses holding up the staff in war, they carry the flames for the brethren that are out to lift up other AOs.  Sure, the numbers were overall light today as the Week-of-Westside draws the men to something bigger and something more tiresome.  But the spirit of Paragon spreads forth, and the merry few today held their staffs high in joy.

THE THANG:

Q passed out the pain sticks with instructions to keep them held high at any time that the procession is in motion.  Mosey down to the field – it was soft and dry, like a warm blanket.  Thanks to Ricky Bobby and Westside for helping YHC to get a hold of the sticks.

All routines were a bit invented, with inspiration from other pain-stick routines.

Pass-the-Pole:  PAX in a tight circle, plank position, almost shoulder to shoulder.  PAX pass the pain-stick around the circle while remaining in plank.  The stick may not touch the ground.  After passing the stick, each man does 10 merkins.  Keep passing until all PAX have done 50 merkins.

Pain Stick Super-Sets

Round 1:

  • modified 4cnt SSH, x5 – staring position is feet together, pain-stick held out in front with arms straight.  On ‘1’, stick goes straight overhead and feet apart;  ‘2’, feet together and stick out in front again; ‘3’ and ‘4’ are the same as ‘1’ and ‘2’.  This is 1.   
  • Pole-Position 4cnt Rows, x5 – 2 PAX hold each end of a single stick.  3rd PAX hangs under the stick for a row to the chest.  10 rows, then switch PAX until all PAX have done 1 set of 10.
  • Triple Squats, x5 – 3 movement exercise to complete 1 rep.  First movement is a squat-and-hold for 8 count with stick resting on the quads.  Then quickly recover to standing and return to squat with stick held directly out in front with straight arms, hold for 8 count.  Then quickly recover to standing and return to squat with stick held directly overhead, hold for 8 count.  This is 1 (repeated for a total of 5).
  • LBC Pass-offs, x? – Okay… these were not really LBCs.  2 partner PAX on their six, feet facing each other.  First PAX balances the stick on the ankles and then extends legs in and out, while the partner flutter kicks.  After completing reps, stick is passed to the partner PAX without using the hands.  Reps continue.  Not sure how many reps the PAX did in the first or second round.  Lost count.  Painful.
  • Run held High – run around the perimeter of the football field, stick held high above the head for the entire lap.

Round 2 – Same as the first, except more…

  • modified 4cnt SSH, x10 (this is 20 SSH)
  • Pole-Position Rows, x10 (this is 20 rows)
  • Triple Squats, x6… too painful to go more, but held out the last squat for a very slow 8 count.
  • Pass-Offs…  Not sure of the count, but the groaning was loud and mumblechatter had stopped
  • Run held High

At this point, more time had burned away than expected and shoulders and chest were not worked enough. 

On to Iron Hulk (Jack Webbs, with 1:4 merkin:press ratio).  – PAX started at 1 merkin, then on their feet for 4 full presses with the stick.  Then 2 merkins, and 8 presses.  And so on until reaching 10 merkins and 40 presses.  This did the trick for the shoulders and chest.

Tinder leaving the PAX multiple times to either merlot or hack a lung… coming off some sort of sickness ?  Tinder also sharting himself so badly that he felt the need to take 5 steps away from the PAX… he could not even enjoy the aroma of his own flatulence.

Cuban shared amazing stories of his time overseas.  The great people he encountered and the power of God in their lives.

As always, YHC is greatly inspired for MORE.  There is MORE, and the F3 PAX show up and profess it.  Through the physical strength we build, there is RESTFUL STRENGTH being created.  The Restful Strength is like a bass note too deep to immediately hear, but the vibrations are seen and felt in the circles of these High Impact Men.
