INTRO:
I’ll start out by saying that I was glad to do my VQ at the Paragon, which is one of my favorite AOs due to the great features that the campus provides. You can use the stairs, the dreaded hill, plenty of running room, just all kinds of unique things to use. With that said, we basically stayed in one spot the entire time haha. But as we prepared to begin promptly at 530, the cars just kept rolling in which is pretty standard for Paragon but with each car that came in, the nerves grew a little bit more. Anyway…..
WARM-O-RAMA:
Short mosey followed by a quick disclaimer since there were no FNGs.
Side straddle hops to make sure I could count in cadence
Slow weed pickers
And finally sungods.
During the sun gods I took the time so let the pax know that today is the 55th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jrs “I Have a Dream†speech. He gave this speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in front of 250,000 people in order to unify our nation and end the tragedies of racism and segregation. So today’s beat down was in honor of all he did. (Even though Swisher said that running sprints up the hill did not remind him of MLK)
THE THANG:
Todays beatdown was kinda “borrowed†from F3Nashville, I just changed it a little for maximum effect.
Today we did DREAMs, each letter was followed by a sprint up the hill forwards, mosey down, sprint backwards up the hill, mosey down. Â And, in the spirit of unity, we performed the exercises as a group and planked for the six.
D- Derkins,
R- Reverse crunches
E- Everest
A- Alphabet
M- Merkin Wipes, (my new favorite from the Exicon)
The DREAM took a good bit less time than I thought it would, and if we did DREAMs again YHC was going to spill merlot on my VQ, so we then did a short mosey to the stairs where I started making up stuff for this portion of the beatdown.
Dry docks, then up the stairs hitting each stair.
Reverse crunches, Â then up the stairs skipping a stair.
We then did something else, can’t remember, and again up the stairs hitting each step.
Then finally another mosey to the furthest light post in the parking lot and back to the flag for some “core only†Mary with some 6 inch planks thrown in just for fun.
CIRCLE OF TRUST:
Count-O-Rama
Name-O-Rama
Dandy was our 6th man today. Dandy shared a little about what he did for a living, but in true, selfless HIM form, he spent most of his time telling us how proud he was of a friend that is about to finish hiking the AT. We suggested giving his friend Krispy Kreme donuts at the finish line.
No FNGs to name today surprisingly.
We then gathered and prayed to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for giving us the ability to meet and better our selves as men and leaders. Â YHC asked Jesus to help us lead our wives and children, I more than anyone need help in the area right now.
Naked-Man Moleskin:
I have to give a shout out to Banana Boat. This is a HIM for Jesus that I grew to respect this morning and I don’t think he even knew he was having an effect on me.  Shortly, Banana Boat will be leaving for Indonesia on a mission trip, but it’s illegal in that country to call it that.  He is going as a basketball coach in order to be able to enter the 99%? Muslim country so that he can hopefully minister to people there and spread the Gospel.  He also said that he hates his beard but in the country he is going to, it is a sign of respect to have a beard. Wow man, I can’t wait to hear about it when you get back in 8 or 9 months, awesome. Lets pray for him while he is gone.
