INTRO:

The clock struck 9 pm on Friday and I still hadn’t locked down a solid plan for the workout on Saturday. It had been awhile since YHC had Q’d a Saturday at the Hurt Locker and I didn’t want to disappoint those that came out in the gloom. It was on my mind all week, but just couldn’t settle on what I wanted to do. One thing I did know was that I wanted a lot of running for those that opted not to do the 0.0 and that I didn’t want to do Indian runs around the park (no disrespect Legionnaire). So, what better excuse to criss-cross the park than to post clues all over the park and in order so that it required going from one side to the other over and over again, thus the Scavenger hunt!

WARM-O-RAMA:

With all the running planned YHC focused on getting those legs warm:
Copperhead squats IC x 16
Windmills IC x 10
Weed pickers IC x 10
Michael phelps OYO

THE THANG:

I had to get out early to set up all the fun prior to the ruck at 6, but was able to cheer on those participating in the 12 Labors. After the warm-up I announced to the PAX that we’d be doing 11 labors and that if they wanted to do the full 12 they showed up 2 hours too late. We split off into 3 teams of 3 and I joined a team only for the sake of travel from one location to the other and doing the exercises. No assistance was provided. We started out at the bathrooms by the park to introduce Donkey Humpers to the Cherokee exicon (thanks Cricket!) Here were the exercises and clues that went from there:

1. Donkey Humpers x 25
– Don’t confuse this location with a tennis court. If you find yourself in a pickle you’re in the right place.

2. Suicides on the pickle ball court, 10 crunchy frogs at the first line, 20 at mid-court, 30 at the next line and 40 on the other side.
– Up and Over!

3. Up and over the fences outside the tennis courts, across the parking lot, over the 2nd set of fences and back. Rinse and repeat.
– Have you ever tried doing SSHs on an incline while trying not to fall in a lake? You have if you’ve been to a Legionnaire beatdown!

4. SSH x 100
– Feeling lost? Looking for something specific in the park or perhaps a place to store your bike and get some water?

5. Freddie Mercuries x 25 Kodiak count
– Surely somebody in your group knows where the Burpee mile starts?

6. Just be glad its not actually a burpee mile! Burpees x 30
– Want to go for a swim? Too bad there is no water in the pool. Only a skateboard or two.

7. Take a dip. 11s with 1 squat at the top and 10 dying cockroaches inside the pool, increasing the former and decreasing the latter always adding up to 11.
– There’s no Christmas tree there anymore, but you can still go round a bout the same place. Wave to Forrest Gump!

8. Lt. Dan; 1:4 squat to lunge ratio, increasing to 10:40 (started running out of time at this point so the lead team modified to 5:20 and skipped to step 10)
– Where might you cheer on those I9 soccer players or lacrosse teams if that football guy has the nice turf field reserved all day? Look for a place to have a seat.

9. Dips x 50 + Big Boy Sit Ups x 50
– Look for the all-green rainbow. If you know how it works good for you, No worries if not, just try and look over the top.

10. Pull-ups, x 25 while the rest of the team does AMRAP LBCs (lead team split these reps in half and some modified to mercans (sp?) instead).
– BACK TO THE FLAG!

11. Absolution IC x 10
All the groups began arriving back to the flag at this point and some jumped in where they could while others were left gasping for air.

RECOVER and head over to watch Babyface take his icy bath for a good cause!

CIRCLE OF TRUST:

Prayers for our ailing F3 brothers, some hurting physically and emotionally this week. Prayers for Falyn and also for the family of the child in our community that was run over. We don’t always understand His plans, but many lives were saved as a result of that child donating her organs, for which I know those families are grateful beyond comprehension.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

– Accusations of cheating were already being thrown out as YHC was running with the lead group, totally by coincidence. We’re all men of integrity here and no assistance was provided I can assure you.

– I may need to check the time of sun rise before suggesting the PAX bring a head lamp as there was plenty of light by the time we got started.

– After Westside was having trouble getting some hard commits to the B0.0MTown workout, I gave the PAX a heads up that there would be lots of running involved with the Hurt Locker beatdown. That changed at least a few minds to reconsider, but also got me to wondering how our Saturday workout could share the same name as a weekday workout despite the two of them not even going the same length of time. Sounds to me like someone needs to revisit the AO vs beatdown principle as it is being applied at Veterans Park AO!

As always, it was a pleasure leading a fine group of men in the (semi) gloom! Misty out!
