Muhamed Ali said, amongst other things, “I don’t count my sit ups, I only start counting when it starts hurting because they’re the only ones that count”  Realizing how great a quote this is, QIC decided to build a workout around this today.

WARM-O-RAMA:

Mosey up the left side ramp to the pavillion

Rock & Roll (grab your legs and roll around on your back) OYO

Mosey to the parking lot across the street.

THE THANG:

Partner up for Catch me if you can on the hill in the lot adjacent to Arnold Mill.  First PAX backpedaled while 2nd PAX did 5 monkey humpers and gave chase.  Switch when caught.  3 laps.

BBS on the six

Mosey across Arnold Mill to the Elm Street Cultural Arts Village Events Green.  Here we did 4 corners OYO as a group.

Corner 1-BBS OYO until it hurts then count 5 more. Run to corner 2

Corner 2-Carolina Dry Docks OYO until it hurt then count 5 more.  Bobby Hurleys(side shuffle and slap the ground each step) to corner 3

Corner 3- BBS OYO until it hurts then count 5 more. Backpedal to corner 4

Corner 4- Monkey Hummers OYO until it hurts then count 5 more. Bobby Hurleys to corner 1

This was intended to be 4 laps but QIC audibled to 3

Mosey back to the Amphitheater

Circle up and BBS to the 6.

1 round of Jack Webb.  1 merkin followed by 4 shoulder presses.  2 merkins, 8 presses all the way up to 10 and 40

When QIC first did this lead by C4 at The Paragon, I chuckled at how easy it was going to be.  Then we hit 5 and 20.  Shoulders start burning around here.  By the time you get to 7 and 28, no-one is laughing anymore. Finishing 10 and 40 is almost as pleasant as the last day of school when you’re a 6th grader.  Now the men of the Clinic know the feeling as well.

We had time for a short Mary that started with LBC, Humped the Monkey, and ended with 5 navy seal situps.

Ali was right.  The only ones that count are the ones you complete when it hurts.  This could be extended into our every day lives.  Most of us have it pretty good.  Wives, familys, Jobs, houses and all the trappings of success.  Its easy to be a good person when everything is going well.  Who are we when things take a turn for the worse, when we need to struggle in some way to get by?  I’d like to think that I’ll be just as good a man, because that is when it’ll really counts.
