WHERE: The Chatter Box

THE PAX: Homeboy, Manning, Spaceballs, Drumstick, OddJob, Trill, Hard Hittin, Fleetwood, Good Hands… and Duke (4-legged friend)

Total # of PAX: 10

Number of FNGs: 0

QIC: Grylls

INTRO:

The all-night rain and mud oceans at the Chatterbox did not deter these dedicated PAX from braving the weather and posting for each other.  Plenty of new faces and wanna-be Q’s made for a great morning in the gloom.

YHC’s shoulder is still on the fritz, so an all-lower body beatdown was in play.  In this kind of situation, “if you can’t do it, don’t Q it,” is appropriate.

WARM-O-RAMA:

Around the full lap we went.  Followed by more warm-ups to get the legs loosened up.  This is also where Duke began his strong interest in something Fleetwood was packing in his pants.  It was never fully known, but Duke spent the rest of the hour trying his best to get some.

  • SSH x10, IC
  • Windmills x10 IC (YHC lost the count because Manning was in direct view… he says it’s a modification; but holy-moly, it’s bad)
  • Quad-Stretches OYO (heel to butt)
  • Hang-em Low (deep squat to stretch inner thighs and butt)

THE THANG:

Leg Wrecker (EXICON)

  • On the field/mud-pit, PAX split into 2 groups, separated by approx 30 yds.
  • Group 1 holds Al Gore while Group2 marches together towards Group1
  • The march is 2 lunges, KODIAK count (each leg 2 times) and a squat (somewhat a Lt Dan, but no ascending)
  • When Group2 reaches Group1, they switch roles and one group marches away from the other, back tot he starting point.
  • One group took the ‘together’ very seriously and did the entire exercise in cadence with each other.  It was a sight and sound to behold, as the PAX group counted together.
  • Repeat until each group had marched about 3-4 times.

Mosey to the Tennis Courts to take advantage of a long incline in the parking lots.  Dora 123 for Legs!

  • Partner up… One Partner runs backwards up the hill, and forward down the hill, while the other partner exercises. Each partner continues the count from the other partner when returning from the run.
  • 100 Jump Lunges, Kodiak Count
  • 200 Gas Pumpers / Crunchy Frogs on the bleachers
  • 300 Squats
  • For YHC, the backwards run up the hill was unexpectedly rough.  It will not be forgotten!

Egyptian Indian Run up the Hill

  • PAX form a single-file line and assume a lunge position
  • Last PAX in the line runs up the hill to the front of the line, calls “SWITCH!”, at which time all PAX step forward into another lunge
  • Last PAX in the line runs up the hill to the front of the line, calls “SWITCH!”, and so on…
  • Continued to the top of the hill.  The PAX have a hard time calling SWITCH in this exercise and stepping on command.  It’s not just the Chatterbox crew…  YHC cannot figure out why this seems to be hard to manage.

Mosey to a less-than-river spot of the track… YHC is confused about the next exercise, so Manning volunteers to Q… NO WAIT… Drumstick INTERCEPTS!!!   Takes the PAX in the opposite direction after Manning attempts to start his exercise!  For some reason PAX follow Drumstick.  YHC says nothing.

Drumstick leads 3 sets of Ball-to-the-Wall.  Painful as usual.  Holds each set until PAX are starting to whine… and then a 10-count.  Great break for Legs.  Then 10 SSH IC between each set, in Drumstick’s lovable, unique count.

YHC resumes the Q with Captain Thors.  This exercise sucks… but YHC will keep trying until it can be done without losing breath.   Started with 1 Big Boi and 4-count American Hammers.  Ended with 10 Big Bois and 40 American Hammers.

FINALLY!!! Manning gets his turn to hurt the PAX… and hurt them he does.  YHC cannot remember or did not hear the name of this… we’ll call it an Indian Run Gamble.

  • PAX form pairs in the Indian Run around the track
  • The six pair (last in line) sprint as far as they can ahead of the PAX column to do burpees
  • The sprinting pair must complete 10 burpees before the running PAX column reaches them
  • If the PAX column reaches the pair, the pair must complete a total of 15 burpees.
  • The ‘gamble’ is sprinting far enough ahead of the column, but not too far to exhaustion, to complete the 10 burpees.
  • The sprints felt useless in this exercise… the PAX column seemed to always catch the sprinting pair… and it was intimidating.

Homeboy, as usual, encourages the PAX into a near-sprint back to the flag so there is more time for Mary.

  • Flutter Kicks, IC…  A good exercise to practice the Q… after 10 (4 counts IC), YHC passes to HardHittin…  HardHittin will not stop until Trill finally yells loud enough to take over…  PAX keep up the count until all Mumble Chatter and counting reduces to gibberish
  • Imperial Walkers… another good Q exercise…  Passed to Oddjob and Good Hands.
  • Homeboy calls LBCs for the last 30 seconds and PAX are smoked.  Flawless Finish!

CIRCLE OF TRUST:

  • Plenty of Service Opportunities.   See 2nd and 3rd F calendars for Holiday Lights of Hope opportunities.
  • USRuck.com is established.  Check it out (work in progress)
  • Prayers requested for HardHittin’s family members recently diagnosed with cancer.
  • Prayers requested for the men of F3 during the holidays, especially those who have to navigate difficult relationships this season (divorce, separation, recent losses)

Naked-Man Moleskin:

As Drumstick stated, the ridiculous pain in the hard rain are the beatdowns that we remember.  Relationships are strengthened.  We are grateful for our brotherhood and are are inspired to continue pressing in.

Also of special note… Duke took full advantage of Fleetwood during Manning’s Indian Run Gamble during burpee time.  Duke paid no attention to his master, Homeboy, but attempted to get his full hump on every time Fleetwood hit the deck in the burpees.  Duke is a determined dog.
