INTRO:

Round 2 of The Happy Jack.  After yesterday’s frisbee fest at the Kodiak, this QIC wanted to open it up a bit and stretch the legs, putting some miles underneath.  With the objective always being to hit a 5K during a Happy Jack beatdown, the PAX was going to BoMBS away at some Sixes (listed in the Exercises at F3nation as Do-ahh Diddy)..

WARM-O-RAMA:

Mosey from the pavilion, where apparently this is the location FIA congregates normally, so we may move the start back to the Playground per usual at Veterans, across the parking lots to the upper parking area as you enter the park, truly gloomy and dark.  This QIC had the only headlamp.

  • 10 Weed Pickers

Legionnaire interjects and announces he would like to do some “running stretches,” whatever those are, possibly a French euphemism or some other Gaulish idiomatic expression, but the PAX moves on like Gaius Julius Caesar (rumored to have been a redhead, notably) exiting Gaul and then crossing the Rubicon — alea jacta est!

  • 10 Hillbillies
  • 3 full Happy Jacks — naturally

THE THANG:

Do-ahh Diddy BoMBS (5 Burpees, 10 Mercans, 15 BBSU, 20 Squats)

The PAX lines up and commences what appears to be an Indian Run on the track.  However, it is almost an Indian Run in reverse.  The man at the back of the PAX calls Six! (hence Sixes) and the HIM in front kicks it into high gear, a quasi-sprint, separating himself from the rest of the PAX which continues at its steady pace.  Upon achieving what he believes to be enough separation before the PAX catches up, the HIM conducts the exercise (5 Burpees in the first case) and then planks to await the rest of the PAX bringing the heat approaching.  If he cannot complete the exercises in time, he must go again and repeat.  Otherwise, he rejoins the PAX at the back, and announces Six! thus initiating the next lead running to separate.  Once each member of the PAX completed the first exercise (Burpees) the PAX proceeded through the next (Mercans) and so on.

Those that had to separate on the two big hills on the track truly bore some pain, as the climb and then exercises at a quick pace worked the lungs and heart to be sure.  Once we completed the full BoMBS schedule, we moseyed back to the flag, for a one last dash-sprint to finish up.

All said, 4.25 miles completed, and a damn good cadence and run.  There were rumors of an “almost Merlot” but nothing substantiated.  The humidity this morning made for some difficulty on the hills, indeed.

CIRCLE OF TRUST:

Prayers for Good Hands mother.  Praise that YHC’s daughter suffered but a small blood clot following the ball to the head, which was what caused the extensive nose bleeding the previous night.  Prayers for our families finishing the week.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Ruck tomorrow night for those interested, check out C4NN.  Law Dog will take the Happy Jack next week as this QIC is out of town.

Six Man Woody was crushing it today, good pace and strong on the hills.  Reminded us that he has a third on the way for this November, that he spent some time growing up in California, that he escaped, married his HS sweetheart, and that his nickname however much he would like did not have anything to do with virility.
