INTRO:
Super pumped to not only be able to Q Day 3 of WoW, but to get my first post in at The Playground. The 0.0 beatdowns are tough to prep since there is limited running involved. No worries, YHC had a plan in place. Cars kept rolling in the parking lot and YHC was getting a little concerned that the PAX would exceed the coupons, but we held strong at 19. At 0530ish (I was a little late) the coupons were distributed and through the mockery the warm-up proceeded.

WARM-O-RAMA:

Hey, 2nd day in a row that the warm-up didn’t include SSH’s. The exercises were as follows:

10x Windmills (fast since I had to make up time)
10x Squats
OYO Sun Gods (frontwards and backwards)

Now that we were stretched out it was time to warm up the bands. The PAX partnered up and resistance walked (resistance band was placed around the walking PAX’s waist and as they walked the other PAX provided resistance). The PAX switched when they made it to the opposite end of the parking lot. Time to start the real fun.

THE THANG:

Resist the Quarter Pounder

Similar to the typical quarter pounder, the PAX will be performing 4 exercises at 25ish yard intervals. The twist, all exercises are performed with a partner. Also, when moving between the intervals the PAX would bear crawl with the resistance band around their waist while their partner provided resistance. The exercises were:

Partner 1 Bear Crawl to 25yd
25x Chest Press (each PAX)(standing upright, one PAX would perform a chest press with the resistance band while the other PAX stood behind them and provided resistance)

Partner 2 Bear Crawl to 50yd
50x Pull Through (each PAX) (resistance band is between 1 PAX legs and the other PAX is behind them providing resistance. Start in squat position and pull the band through your legs as you extend the squat)

Partner 1 Bear Crawl to 75yd
75x Reverse LBC’s with band (each PAX)(standard exercise, except the resistance band is held around the feet while the partner provided resistance)

Partner 2 Bear Crawl to 100yd
100x LBC’s with band (each PAX)(standard exercise, except the resistance band is held with the hands while the partner provides resistance)

A lot of mumble chatter here as the PAX worked their way through this routine. The Pull Throughs were really funny. The highlight of the morning was watching Alcoa who had 2 partners (since we were odd). He would just stand there while 2 PAX were performing exercises on him. He looked like a Dad that was just lying in the floor as the kids jumped all over him. The Reverse LBC’s and LBC’s were brutal. I will definitely recycle those. On to the next routine.

Resistance walk back to the front of the parking lot. 1 PAX does 50yds and the partner completes the walk.

Partner Dora 1, 2, 3

Standard Dora where 1 PAX performs the exercise while the other PAX does a bear crawl to the 25yd mark and back (this was modified to bear crawl down and lunge walk back after the 1st round). The Dora exercises were to be performed with the bands and were:

100x Merkins (band over shoulders and under hands)
200x Tricep Curls (band looped around foot and over back of shoulders)
300x Squats (band under both feet and over back of shoulders)

YHC called an audible on the movements as the time was getting close and the PAX just focused on the exercises. The bear crawls were especially brutal after the Merkins. 0615 sharp we wrapped up and called it a morning!

CIRCLE OF TRUST:

Name-o-rama, 6th Man (Dugger), prayers and praises. Prayers for Chitwood’s COUSIN as he is dealing with health issues and may need to be moved to hospice care soon. Prayers and praises for the Hurricane buckets.

Naked-Man Moleskin:
It’s been a while since I’ve heard that much chatter in a beatdown (thanks LawDog). I accredit the PAX and the 0.0 style beatdown for that. I’m sure the bands had nothing to do with it. It was definitely unlike any beatdown you’ve been to before. There were some things that worked out great and others that I may not bring out, unless I’m trying to garner some laughs. This group of guys has been amazing this week with their support. Shout out to Chitwood who has been 3 for 3 on my beatdowns this week! Look forward to tomorrow at The Vineyard. SYITG
