INTRO:

 

With so many guys heading out of town YHC was pretty certain the crowd a veterans park was going to be a little lighter than usual, so I felt if the crowd was light, the work should be heavy, especially at B0.0MTown.  And with the impending Hurricane, it seemed appropriate to make that heavy work involve both sandbags and buckets. So…

WARM-O-RAMA:

We did a few SSH, a few Windmills, and finished off with some weed pickers to get all nice and loosened up before the fundown.

THE THANG:

To start the fun we took our buckets with a sandbag dropped inside and up the hill by the playground for a round of 11’s.  Carry the bucket to the top, pull the bag from the bucket and do 10 presses, then put it back and carry it back down. At the bottom, pull the bag out again and do 1 squat.  You know how 11’s work so I will leave it as that. During the workout, Dixie Chick and I found the only way to actually beat Banjo at an exercise. Have him go to the bathroom for about 10 minutes, then you can finish juuuust barely ahead of him.  While waiting for Banjo to finish up Dixie (yes Dixie, be careful to finish saying the whole name, trust me) and YHC started off doing a Zamperini, but changed that to continuous step-ups with the sandbag shouldered.

 

Banjo finished and we took our buckets of fun over to the pull-up apparatus in the playground.  We broke up into a 3 exercise rotation. 1 pax started at pull-ups and performed 10 pull-ups, as he did that another did AMRAP sandbag rows and the other preformed AMRAP 1 arm sandbag clean.  Once the pull-up pax finished he moved to rows, rows to cleans, and cleans to pull-ups. After the 1st round, Dixie Chick made a great suggestion that we work down to 1 (YHC had planned on 3 rounds of 10, but liked Dixie’s idea sooo much better) so round 2 we did 9 pull-ups and started working our way down.  After the round of 8, we swapped out the sandbag exercises with curls and sandbag swings (kettlebell swings with sandbags). We made it through the round of 5 pull-ups and had to take the buckets back. We had just enough time for a quick round of IC Big Boy sit ups then it was time to call it.

Great job by Dixie Chick today.  Way to join us for the change of pace.  I had yet to have a chance to really talk to him, but with a 3 man crew, it makes it easier to get to talk to someone.  

 

Great job by Banjo, like always, but it was nice to finally finish before him at a workout.
