INTRO:

After some late sunday night chatter from Homeboy on slack about what kind of sweatpants Beater wears, I was looking forward to the first truly cold beatdown of the season.  (In case you are wondering Homeboy likes old school baggy sweatpants with elastic at the bottom).

Performed my normal F3 morning routine – up at 4:45, hot cup of coffee and some quick reading, time for a stop at the toilet, and then out the door.   Would have been easy to stay in my chair with that coffee this morning!   But i threw on the cold weather gear and got after it.

I was a bit worried the PAX wouldn’t show this morning.  As I pulled out of the neighborhood I saw Beater pulling out of his driveway – good sign.  Just to piss off Drumstick I think Beater and I are going to continue to drive separately to workouts even though we live only a few houses away.

Mouth 2 Mouth was waiting in his car when I pulled up, and a few more PAX rolled in.  5:30 hit and we had 6 total, and we’re off!  No shovel flag, I guess Westside has it, but he was busy starting his week elsewhere of 6 Q’s in a row – dude is crazy.

WARM-O-RAMA:

Mosey’d up and around the back fields, down to the spot in front of the high school.  Circled up for 15 SSH, 10 Windmills, 10 copper head squats.

THE THANG:

First up, the Doracide.  This is a Dora 1-2-3 but the running part is a suicide instead of a straight run.  Partnered up, the target is 100 merkins, 200 LBCs, 300 squats for each pair.  While one guy does the exercise, the other sprints to the first light pole, does 1 burpee, sprints back, sprints to the second light pole, does 2 burpees and then back.  Switch with your partner.  Rinse and repeat.

About halfway through the LBCs, Trill decides to show up.  Said he couldn’t find us.  Hmm….we’ll give him that since he is still fairly new.   Anyways, pulled him into one of the pairs and kept going.

10 count then mosey over to the hill for some Elevens.  Exercise at the top is star jumps.  Exercise at the bottom is a deconstructed burpee – each movement of the burpee is separated into it’s own exercise.  So 10 deconstructed burpees looks like this – 10 squats, down to plank, 10 leg thrusters, 10 merkins, 10 leg thrusters, then up.  Sprint up the hill.  1 star jump.   Back down.  9 deconstructed burpees, up the hill, 2 star jumps – and so on and so on.

This was a tough one, but the PAX pushed through strong.  We were approaching time so YHC called for everyone who hadn’t finished to finish their current set.  Proud of Beater and Spock for not settling with 1 set left – they pushed through to get all the way through their Elevens – that’s the drive I like to see!

Jogged back, but called for a sprint across the parking lot to finish up strong.

CIRCLE OF TRUST:

Spock asked prayers for two friends – one has a father struggling with health, and one has a 4 yr. old daughter who has just had a tumor removed.

YHC reminded the PAX that as it gets cold, if you are coming out here for yourself you’re gonna fartsack, if you are coming out here for the guy next to you you’ll be here.

Closed it out with prayer.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

I read something in Freed to Lead, don’t remember the exact words but it was something like “make the workout hard and they’ll come back.”  I like that.  That’s my new mantra when I Q.

Really enjoyed pushing ourselves to get better this morning boys!   Trill, now you know where to find us 🙂
