INTRO:

A cold, wet morning.  What better way to start my day? Sunday night after looking at the weather and temperature for the morning, I began to get a little anxious about the morning.  “How do you dress for the cold and being wet?” I thought to myself.  Nevertheless I set out everything like usual and went to bed thinking “I’ll figure it out in the morning.”

I pulled up to the parking lot just behind Trill.  I sat in my car trying to figure out where the PAX could avoid the rain as best as possible.  I decided to drive around the campus looking for a covered area and decided on the front walkway.  It appeared to be dry and would stay that way for the beatdown.  I went back to the parking lot and waited for the others to show up.  At about 5:28, the four of us got out of our cars, complained about the rain and cold.  By 5:30 it was still just our quartet and it was time to do this!

WARM-O-RAMA:

We moseyed up to the area I found around the front of the high school.  Tiny Tat was definitely happy about the dry area.  We did some Windmills (aka Don Quixotes) and Weedpickers to loosen up some.  I explained that all of our exercises would be 34 reps due to my 34th birthday and then showed the guys the deck of cards I had chosen.

THE THANG:

I wrote 34 different exercises on some cards from a deck.  I also added 2 PAX Choice cards.  I shuffled them up and we got to work.

We did 34 of the following in this order:

Freddie Mercury, Reverse LBCs, Derkins, Merkins, Heel Touches, Copperhead Squats (thankful Tiny Tat got these for the cadence count!), Crunchy Frogs, Boxcutters, SSH, Crab Cakes (Trill and I remarked that Westside and Tiny Tat are really fast at these!), Monkey Humpers, Burpees (Could feel the merlot getting mixed by the end of these), Jump Lunges, Plank (34 seconds), Scissor Kicks, Star Jumps, Box Jumps, Mhaktar N’Diayes.

By the last exercise it was time to cut the reps if we were going to make it through all 34 exercises plus the 2 PAX choice.

We did 17 of the following:

Flutter Kicks, American Hammers, Carolina Dry Docks, PAX Choice Dips (20 Dips at Tiny Tat’s choosing), Plank Jacks, Stationary Inch Worms, Imperial Walkers (grateful again I did not have to do the cadence count) and Big Boy Sit-ups.

At this point we really had to pick it up so we cut the exercises to 5 reps and finished with the following:

PAX Choice Dips (Trill chose 20 reps), Rocky Balboas, Shoulder Taps, Daniel-Sons, Knee Slappers, ABCs (only to E), Lunges, LBCs, Bear Crawl (for a short distance) and finally Squats.

We made it through 36 exercises plus the Warm-o-Rama! I was thoroughly pleased as I was concerned we would not have enough time.  We moseyed back to our cars for the COT.

CIRCLE OF TRUST:

We discussed a few upcoming events like the Cherokee Challenge and the Thanksgiving event at JJ Biello.  We shared a couple concerns (Cricket’s M and 2.0 on the way) and then prayed to finish the morning.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

I shared during the COT that birthdays are always a reminder to me to evaluate where I have been and where I want to go.  At 34 years old, there are many habits and mindsets I have that have to be broken or put aside.  I mentioned that I spend far too much time on my phone with games and other nonsense that I rob my family from valuable time and love.  I want this year to be the best one yet and what better way to start than getting out in the cold and rain with some great guys.
