INTRO:

YHC took things easier than normal over the weekend after a slight hamstring pull last Thursday…went all out on Westside’s sprints too early.  Lesson learned…hopefully!   Anyways, pain had mostly subsided after icing on Thursday and Friday, so made it out to Kennesaw Mountain with my male 2.0s on Saturday and Sunday to hike up to the top.   Good weekend, and had my fantasy football draft on saturday night – who’s ready for football season??   GO DAWGS.  SKOL VIKINGS.

YHC rolled into the parking lot at 5:05.  Westside was there waiting in his car.  Pretty soon we realized we both thought we were Q’ing today…consulted the Q sheet and pre-blast.  Indeed, it was YHC for the Q.  Props to Westside for having a workout prepared but he’ll have to shelf that for a future date.

Goal for the workout today was to keep it challenging but with very low load on the hamstrings (no sprints, no hills, no squats).  Easy for us to push too hard too early even from a minor injury and end up out for much longer.   Trying to avoid that!

WARM-O-RAMA:

Long-ish mosey past the front of the high school and around to the practice field.  Squared up (there were only 4 of us) for SSH, Sun Gods, and Michael Phelps.  Gotta get those arms and shoulders warmed up…

THE THANG:

With the full practice football field at our disposal, PAX went through a series of exercises from end zone to end zone.

Merkins – start with 15, jog 10 yards, 14, jog 10 yards, 13…down to 6 at the opposite end zone.  Turn around – 50 yd. crab walk to mid-field. 25 big boi situps. 50 yd. bear crawl to the start.

Mountain Climbers/Plank Jacks – jog 25 yards, 25 mountain climbers, jog 25 yards, 25 plank jacks, jog 25 yards, 25 mountain climbers, jog 25 yards, 25 plank jacks.  turn around at the end zone.  Jog to mid-field.  25 big boi situps.  50 yd. bear crawl to the start.

Burpees – jog 25 yards, 15 burpees, jog 25 yards, 10 burpees, jog 25 yards, 5 burpees, jog 25 yards, 5 burpees.  turn around at the end zone.  Jog to mid-field.  25 big boi situps.  50 yd. crab walk to the start.

4x4s – jog 25 yards, 5 4x4s, jog 25 yards, 5 4x4s, jog 25 yards, 5 4x4s, jog 25 yards, 5 4x4s.  turn around at the end zone.  Jog to mid-field.  25 big boi situps.  50 yd. bear crawl to the start.

10 count, then mosey back to the flag.  Just enough time for a 30 second 6 inch plank before YHC called it.

CIRCLE OF TRUST:

No FNGs.  Westside was the 6, although we had to count around the circle twice to get to #6.  Good to hear a bit about his service in the national guard.  Thanks for serving brother!

YHC closed out the COT with prayer to the Father though Jesus to empower us to serve those around us.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Smallest group at the Vineyard yet, but grateful to be out in the gloom with you fellas!   The field was wet, and we were all soaked by the end.  Westside probably had it the worst – wearing khaki shorts – forgot his go-bag – oops!!

Enjoyed my second Q and I definitely prefer something with more leg work, but this was a good challenge.

We are still, however, waiting for our first merlot at the vineyard…
