Intro:
The Asylum Launch TODAY! YHC has not been this nervous/excited before a Q in a while. It’s good to get that feeling back of knowing you’re onto something BIG!
With this launch the theme for the beatdown is HOPE. Hope is forward thinking. Hope is optimistic. Hope is looking for the good. Hope is focused on the horizon and eagerly expecting something good is coming. Hope is exciting.
Warm-o-Rama:
With a few PAX still getting out of their car, YHC's alarm when off signaling the 0530 mark. Quick disclaimer and off we mosey to the other parking lot under a light.
SSH – Weed Pickers – Windmills – Hillbillies
Mosey back to the starting point for….
The Thang:
This weekend YHC went on a glorious hike with the M and 2.0's in Blue Ridge, GA. Everyone said it was the highlight of the weekend. During the hike, the 2.0's talked about the Pacer Test at school in PE. YHC stole the idea to use at The Asylum Launch. It's a good baseline for the PAX to gauge fitness and future progress.
Speaker turned on… Instructions delivered….. And a large Waste Management Truck entering the parking lot to pick up the trash to make the speaker difficult to hear… Awesome!
Off we run nonetheless….
As some of the PAX fell out of the Pacer Test they gathered and began doing SSH and LBCs and merkins and such while others continued in the running. Lots of huffing and puffing. YHC especially heard Homeboy gasping for oxygen. It made my heart happy to hear the PAX struggling.
After 8 minutes of running torture YHC figured enough PAX had fallen out of the Pacer Test to move on. Gather on the curb of the parking lot.
The inspiration for today's beatdown was then revealed. "Andy Dufresne crawled to freedom through 500 yards of poop-smelling foulness I can't even imagine…. or maybe I just don't want to. Five. Hundred. Yards." (language edited for presence of 2.0's)
PAX bear crawl across parking lot (approximately 85 yards). At every horizontal parking line, do 5 burpees.
YHC originally intended to rinse/repeat but wanted to get a tour of the new AO.
Mosey to hut at center of the five baseball fields. At this moment it seems necessary to remind PAX of some of Andy's last few words to Red in Shawshank Prison. "Get busy living. Or get busy dying." PAX… pick which one you want to do.
11's with fence hops and Step-ups on picnic table benches.
(Rubicon count for each)
PAX who finished early did some mary waiting on the 6. With the 6 in and just enough time, we used the five-pointed star for some mosey and merkins. Mosey to end of each star arm in between the baseball fields and do 20 merkins. Mosey back to hut at center and then proceed to next arm of star.
With a couple minutes left we did some Mary.

Back to the "Flag" which was soon to be presented.
COT:
During COT the new Shovel Flag was presented to Delta Deuce for safe keeping. To be posted at every beatdown. To be honored and kept safe and clean. If shovel flag falls, PAX do 10 burpees. If shovel flag is left behind after a beatdown, severe ball-busting is in order for the PAX who left it behind.
During the shovel flag presentation, QIC modified Andy Dufresne's letter to Red. (You know… the letter he left under that big oak tree in Buxton)
"Dear Fellow PAX,
If you're hearing this, then you've gotten out of the fartsack. And if you've come this far, maybe you're willing to come a little farther. You remember the name of the next guy you want to EH, don't you? We could use a few good men to help get The Asylum on wheels. We'll keep an eye out for you and the beatdowns ready. Remember PAX. Hope is a good thing. Maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies. I shall be hoping this shovel flag finds you, and finds you well.
Your Friends,
F3 Cherokee."
Prayers also for Secret to find gainful employment.
As the Ball-of-Man stood close, QIC reminded the PAX of Red at the end of "Shawshank Redemption" . Sitting on the bus with his arm out the window in the breeze he says, "I find I am so excited I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it's the excitement only a free man can feel. A free man at the start of a long journey, whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I make it across the border. I hope I find my friend Andy. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope….."
YHC hopes FOR the new Cobb Region. YHC hopes for each and every man in this circle. YHC hopes for The Asylum to grow and meet the needs of the men of their area/region. Ultimately, our hope comes from Jesus. He is our life. He is our light. He is the one who promised healing. But F3 has played such a crucial role in YHC's life to bring that to fruition. To give the hope of Jesus some legs into YHC's heart and life. And YHC hopes the same for each man in the COT. For each man at The Asylum.
YHC hopes…..
Naked Man Moleskin:
Lost Mountain Park is a great AO. Lots of good territory to explore here. And with the population density around, this AO is going to explode! Give it away men. Give it away!
