Who you are tomorrow begins with what you do today.
Number of Pax: 10
Pax Names: Lucky Charms, Law Dog, Exile, Tiny Tat, Gambler, Turtle Head, Mouth to Mouth, Splinter, Situation, Doddy
Warm-O-Rama: You kidding? There ain't no warm up at the V!
The Thang: We started promptly at 0530 and headed down Main Street past the roundabout, past the library, past the government center, and then took a right into Woodstock Knoll. Johnston Farm Ln carried all the way around the perimeter of the neighborhood before we hit Briar Hollow and then Windfields Lane. The problem with Windfields Lane is that you can see it coming...that "knoll"...from afar. There is no turning left or right to avoid it. It has to be climbed. By the time our hearts were back in our chests, we were out of the neighborhood and back down Main St - a left turn down Arnold Mill to the Fire Station before returning back up that smaller "knoll", past the Clinic and into the village. The route was 4.6 miles. Tiny's little Tatties, and his ilk, got in a little further.
Webster's defines Knoll as A Small Hill or Mound. At roughly 0615, LawDog was retained by the group, pro bono, in the defamation suit against the developer, HOA, and city officials who permitted/granted the use of said name to this location. A small hill or mound, it is not. The case is pending settlement in exchange for AYCE turkey on Thursday.
COT: We circled up for the counting, the taking of names, and the 6th man - turtle head. Turtle Head is an Eagle Scout for those of you who didn't know. It was the first time I've met Situation. I did not get the story behind that name, but I'm intrigued for sure. It's got to be a good story.
Lights of Hope at Hobgood thru the 5th for anyone that can lend a hand. Thursday football at 7:00 AM I think at Veterans Park. Lion's Den is active on Thursday as well. The BlackTop will be led by Showtime on Friday morning - hate to miss that one.
Prayer Request for travel mercies, Thanksgiving, and specifically for Gambler's 2.0 (Carson) who had some complications from tonsillectomy last Wednesday. Law Dog's FIL is suffering from a herniated disc - prayers for comfort.
Naked Man Moleskin: In full disclosure, I feel grossly deficient in my abilities as a husband, father, coach, friend, etc when I reflect on where my daily focus resides. I very much hide from the verse about what Love is - patient, kind, doesn't envy, doesn't boast, isn't selfish, slow to anger and doesn't hold any type of grudge. I'm not sure I'm any of those things to be honest. I'm really good at finding and pointing out deficiencies at work, others, my children, spouse, and myself. I tear everything up. The worst part is, it's not how I feel about those I hold close - so bassackwards. So this Thanksgiving, my goal is to not only reflect internally about what I'm thankful for, but express verbally it to those I cherish. If you are like me, I hope you will do the same. I'm very thankful for F3 Cherokee.
