Intro:

With the my last Q of the quarter, YHC wanted to venture back to the upper part of THL and utilize the Skate Park and also sample a little bit of my first Q this year. With a cool, brisk morning, YHC wanted to keep the PAX moving as well. Things also did not get off to a great start….

Warm-o-Rama:

We did a long mosey starting at the Shovel Flag (more on this later) and headed up the Skate Park parking lot, circled up, skipped SSHs and did the following:

Weed Pickers – 15 IC
Imperial Walkers – 15 IC
Michael Phelps – OYO

The Thang:

We then moseyed to the far end bowl and YHC explained Thang #1. We partnered up and while Partner 1 did Big Boy Sit-Ups AMRAP, Partner 2 ran though the bowl, up the side, down the far bowl, and back out of the bowl on the end, where Partner 2 did 25 Derkins, then ran back to Partner 1 and switched. We did the following exercises each round, with the Partner in the bowl doing BBS AMRAP each round:

1st Round – Derkins x 25
2nd Round – Leg Raises (butt at the edge of bowl) x 25
3rd Round – Plank Jacks x 25
4th Round – Mountain Climber (Kodiak Count) x 25

This worked out fine, but with not much light, and the shadows, the changing steepness of some the slopes became tricky. All PAX made it out of the Skate Park unscathed. After a quick 10 count, we did a quick mosey to the grass field by the Skate Park for Thang #2.

Next up…Duck Walk Suicides. The markers were the 1st fence, parking lot divider, 2nd fence, and lastly the Pickle Ball court. The PAX would Duck Walk for the first two dividers, each time running back to the start. Due to the time, after the first two sets, the PAX would run to each stop. The exercises were as follows:

Burpees – 5/10/15/20
Prisoner’s Squat – 10/20/30/40
LBCs – 20/40/60/80

After each exercise, the PAX that finished early, planked. With time running short, YHC call a quick audible and the PAX finished the 80 LBCs at the Parking Lot divider. With a couple minutes to get back to the flag, we did a fast run back to the flag and arrived at 6:15am, right on time, but no time for Mary! YHC still needs to get better with his timing. Was hoping to have Scully lead us in some Mary to help him get ready for his VQ.

COT:

YHC had a great time this morning and finished up my 1st Quarter Q at The Hurt Locker! YHC also has to deal with the shame of destroying the Shovel Flag. YHC knows the importance of the Shovel Flag and what it means for each AO. There is always a great feeling, driving up in the gloom and seeing Old Glory waving or at the end of a beatdown and finally getting back to the Flag! Remember how cool it was to see all the Shovel Flags at the Convergence in February? Well, today, I did the unthinkable…I snapped OUR shovel flag in half! No excuses. The ground was not frozen, I just got careless! Jumped on the shovel with two feet, and snap..just as Bloodhound came up! I’ll get a new show flag ready (with the help of Bloodhound) and it will be back in the gloom soon. I also know that Matchstick will probably only get to enjoy the FUBAR flag for one beat down! You are welcome Matchstick!
