Intro:

Not sure why, I don’t get nervous before a Q anymore, but I kept finding myself checking the clock throughout the night. 1:55 am, 4:00 am, 4:45 alarm goes off right as a flash of lightning lights up the room followed by an rolling thunder. Uh oh, can’t cancel the (almost) birthday Q, let’s check the radar. YHC was confident that we were in the clear despite Matchstick and Legionnaire’s excuses to fartsack and luckily 3 other HIMs showed up to join me for a St. Patty’s Day themed workout.

Warm-o-Rama:

Started the Irish playlist right at 5:30 and upon some initial concern about the pace of the first song I ensured the group that the music would warm up as we do during the workout.
SSH x 20 IC
Weed Pickers x 10 IC
Pied Pipers aka Hillbillies except with your hands playing a flute instead of behind your head x 10 IC (wish I got a video of these)

The Thang:

Started off by channeling our inner leprechaun and leprechaun walked (duck walked) to the first playground because leprechauns are mischievous creatures that like to play. There we partnered up and while partner A did 10 pullups partner B did AMRAP box jumps on the benches. Flip flop and rinse and repeat. Leprechaun walked to the next playground area when we spied a rainbow on the other side of the parking lot. It was at this point that Aquaman questioned if this was like the tow truck workout that he Q'd where we never did find the dang tow truck even after running around the entire AO. Sorry, not like that Aquaman. Moseyed over to what will now and henceforth be known as rainbow road or the long entry on the Union Hill side of Avery to see what was at the end of the rainbow. Low and behold we found a pot of gold! And by gold I mean a bunch of yellow cut up pieces of paper all with various ab exercises on them. PAX drew a gold coin and we ran back to the beginning. No peeking or you may not be able to contain your excitement to do the exercises at the other end. We continued this pattern until each of us had drawn twice or for those that suck at math that was 8 trips down and back on rainbow road. Each time, whoever's turn it was to draw set the pace of the run. We got in:

Box Cutters x 20 IC
Rosalita x 40 OYO
Big Boy Sit Ups x 30 OYO
Flutter Kicks x 40 OYO
Crunchy Frogs x 20 IC (what a coincidence that I drew that one!)
J-Los x 40 OYO
American Hammer x 40 OYO
Big Boy Sit Ups x 20 IC

Exercises included but we never got to, Absolution, Pickle Pointers, Pickle Pounders, Iron Cross, LBCs, Dolly, Freddie Mercury, etc, etc

After taking the leprechaun's gold he was pissed and gave us chase, so we did a lap of catch us if you can. Partnered up and partner A ran backwards while partner B did 5 merkins. Once merkins were complete they ran to catch up with partner A and flip flopped. One lap in we ran back to the flag where we inspected everyone for whether or not they had their green on. HIMs don't pinch we do burpees instead. Penalty for not wearing green is 10 burpees, and so I wasn't just standing there I knocked out 20 merkins. With 20 seconds remaining got in a few more crunchy frogs and finished right on time and with 3.01 miles logged!

COT:

Prayers for those that are ailing, including some of the 2.0s out there. Appreciation for getting these guys out to push each other and make each other stronger and for the blessing of another day on this planet along with the ability to get out and do what we do.

Naked Man Moleskin:

It was a good group for sure including two Irishmen, but all I could think was, where's Manning?! He would have loved this!
Thought about bringing out some green beer, but didn't think that would go over well in the elementary school parking lot.
Doing his best Fat Bastard impression from Austin Powers, Lively tried to contain the wee turtlehead poking out throughout the workout while the Q tried his best to get someone to merlot like so many are apt to do during this weekend's festivities.
Had to slow Aquaman down a bit as he was ready to take over site Q in April, but I reassured him I would see my full year though until May, but I love the enthusiasm. We continued to learn more about X-Files as he shared with the group his favorite pick up line, something about putting some Irish heritage in someone. Or maybe that was the other PAX twisting his words. Who knows, we were all a little delirious from all the running and abbing.
