No witty teaser today
QIC: Geek Squad
Number of Pax: 5
Pax Names: Pie Bar, Odd Job, Lucky Charms, Gekko, Geek Squad
Warm-O-Rama: Mosey'd to get warm. It was blisterin' cold this morning. Pie Bar is wearing a tobog...tobaggan... a hat thing. Did we even get a fall? I feel like Winter is coming in strong this year.
The Thang: Ran along the main path, over the bouncy 2x8's, under the bridge ("be sure to duck Geek Squad"... yeah yeah yeah), over the more solid 6x6 posts, crossed over the creek to the makeshift campground. Stopped and did 56 squats. Continued on and looped around to get some good elevation gains on the hills. At the top of the hill, 56 SSH's. At this point the PAX recognized a theme... Back through the campground and over the creek to make the trek back to the vehicles. When we got under the bridge, the PAX grabbed a rock (or boulder in Pie Bar's case) and did 56 overhead presses. Continued on to the fork where the bridge will take you to the baseball fields. Did 56 imperial walkers. Mosey'd around the baseball fields and ran into a civilian and his potentially aggressive dog. Did a quick sweep of the PAX to make sure I could outrun at least one of them but the civilian held him back pretty well. Hit the vehicles and did 56 overhead presses (no coupon). Had a few MOM's with time for Mike Tython's from Pie Bar, flutter kicks from Lucky, and LBC's from Gekko.
COT: Shared the reason for the 56's. Something that's been weighing heavy on my heart the last few days is the number of teen suicides that I've been hearing about. Did some reading and found that in the last decade teen suicide is up 56%. Shared some thoughts on how we as fathers need to be vigilant in creating a culture of love and grace for our kids such that those kind of thoughts would never enter their minds. I used to think the thing I needed to do to be a good father/husband was work my ass off and provide for them. But no amount of money ever bought a second of time. That after-hours email can wait. The movie/show you're really wanting to see with the M can wait. Your kids are never too old to shower them with hugs and kisses and let them know how important they are to you and this world.
Prayers for Gekko as he gets the test results today from the MRI on his shoulder
Naked Man Moleskin: Good mumble chatter today from the PAX during and post run. No one rolled an ankle, took a tumble, or had to pinch a loaf so I consider this an absolute win. We did get an HC from a certain norther explorer who decided not to show. Hope he's alright and just couldn't beat the fartsack this morning.
