INTRO:
I was excited to Q my first CMU (Concrete Masonry Unit) beatdown. I was less excited after Floppy broke out the Sandbabies at The Playground the day before and had us do several of the exercises I already had planned. But the beatdowns will continue until morale improves!

THE THANG:
Begin by collecting your CMU and partner up.
Modified Flora 1-2-3
100 Merkins with your feet on the block.
P1 starts the Merkins while P2 carries their CMU (chest height or higher) ~100’ and back to continue where P1 left off. P1 carries their block the same distance and partners rotate until the cumulative count between partners reaches 100.
200 LBCs with CMU on your chest.
P1 starts the LBCs while P2 carries their CMU the same distance and back to continue where P1 left off. Â P1 carries their block the same distance and partners rotate until the cumulative count between partners reaches 200.
300 Goblet Squats with CMU.
P1 starts the squats while P2 carries their CMU the distance and back to pick up where P1 left off. P1 carries their block the same distance and partners rotate until the cumulative count between partners reaches 300.
Ar this point YHC needed to catch his breath. A too-quick 10 count from the PAX and we all collected our CMUs and took a walk.

We made it as far as Round 3 Pickle Pointers before I called on Ma Bell to give us an exercise for Mary and he responded with his best “WUT?†expression. From somewhere in the gloom someone suggested box jumps and this is where it all went wrong for YHC…
Up until this point I had survived without my knee brace that I wasn’t wearing because a piece of it fell off somewhere and I didn’t notice until this morning.  For the exact reason I was about to experience, I avoid box jumps as that’s one of a few exercises my knee can’t handle after my ACL replacement. Here I am either feeling my Wheeties or too winded to think straight (uncertain which one) and I wasn’t intimidated by a 6†box jump… Until #7 and my knee gave way…
So remember PAX: It doesn’t get easier, you just get stronger. Or injured. Whichever occurs first.
